128GB SSHD SATA II 240MB/S
Cons:FAILED!!!
Pros:Fast, Easily installs in Obsidian case Comment:
I installed 2 of these drives in a RAID O configuration, within 28 days one drive failed and I am now waiting for the replacement so I can reinstall my operating system from the windows 7 drive image back up utility. Not to sure what happened, I purchased these drives at $500.00 each to avoid this very problem. NCIX was great with the RMA request. I should have a replacement in a few days. |

Loaded XP onto a partition, wow these are fast
Comment:
Decided to take an older PC that won't upgrade to Vista or 7 and do some final upgrades to take it into a graceful slow retirement. My workplace is doing a 100% solid state transition on hard drives starting mid next year; so, I decided why not? I should also state I switched to SATA so that helped the speed too. This of course meant having some SATA drivers handy during the Windows install - a little learning curve there. The results are incredible. Startups and shutdowns are no longer coffee breaks. The performance is wonderful. I decided on 128GB as a nice price break point for today. Wait and prices will fall. The first try I gave XP a 10 GB partition which SP3 fills to the brim. Try more in the range of 15 to 20GB. Oh, and for kicks and grins, the drive is so small I tucked it into a hole between the floppy and CD drive. You look inside and don't see a drive, :) |
No system will successfully boot from this drive more than one time in ten. Motherboard with bios update sometimes will not even detect it as a HD. No firmware update available. Waste of money
