The device it self works, but the software that comes with it does not. It will work with Windows Movie Maker and perhaps other software, but not what comes with the package. Poor support, look for a better product(line) otherwise you are wasting your money and time in trying to get it to work correctly. Fails to captures using software, which you need to go to the ADS site to get. Save yourself time and grief look elsehwere.

This capture device and the included software installed flawlessly on Win XP Pro. Immediately recognized by XP. Software is not as intuitive as some others and will not work with WMP to capture video. The capture quality from VHS is very good for this price point. Conversion and burning to a DVD is easy with the included software. All in all a good product for the amount paid.

This product works well if you have xp os, but if your running vista it wont work for you. I got this to record stuff ps3 to upload to youtube but the way the recording program is set up it wont work good unless you have a splitter to also veiw it on a tv for the screen is small and is very jumpy.

this is only good for 32bit but aside from that if good if you want to fix the 64 bit issue when starting the computer hit f8 multiple time and disable digital singture enforsment before you installit on the computer but be warned it will only work if the thing on so if you restart then you have to do it all over

Their software is so limiting and hard to operate...you can't even go around it through another program using the USB device to capture. Not recommended at all.

This product is not working, only work for couple minutes capturing with a lot of static noise and then it frozen.

The other reviews indicate the videos only transfer in black and white. My tranfers were in full color, had no problems at all. Works better than I was expecting due to some bad reviews.

The hardware does what you would expect it to do and the quality is fine. The software is not worth loading. It is too basic. Does not allow you to insert chapters. Too much of a pain to be bothered with. I had to order a high end editor to complement the hardware.

the unit works great for what i use it for-capturing video to harddrive, but as previous review says to edit it's easier to capture and then edit in WMM. although the colors do seam to get washed out a little bit in the translation I have no real complaint about that. my only complaint is that the software is a little strange to install-but once installed it works just fine---I would recommend to anyone that simply wants to take old video and transfer to computer

I have a bunch of VHS movies most are used from video rental stores. The device works fine with Window XP, you get a watchable copy, though the color is a little dull. Ended up using my dvd burner software (nero4) as what was provided did not work. Would not work with my vista laptop could not get the drivers to install. For some people you might want a higher end device, but if all you want is to move vhs to dvd this product is worth the price.

This gadget copies VHS tapes to your computer well. However, burning DVDs so that they can be played on a DVD player is another matter. You can achieve at least an MPEG DVD that your computer can read; thus a long lasting medium for your precious memories. The editing software is basic with no frills like you have in Windows Movie Maker.If you are on the edge with minimum hardware requirements you may find even the tape copying results to be less than satisfactory. all in all it is worth the $40.

The product works under XP but I wasn't able to get capture to work under Vista. The edit function is rather crude. When trying to clean up a tail the in point is easy to set but the out point, usually the end of video, can't be set with any accuracy so you get some unwanted frames.

I have a bunch of old movies I made with my friends that I can only play on an old, falling apart camcorder....I was able to use this device to hook my camcorder up to my PC and easily record video. The only problem I have is that when I hook my camcorder to my TV, it shows up in color, but recording through this device shows it to be black and white. Not quite sure why that is, maybe just my old camcorder, because a newer camcorder I have is just fine...but the quality is great and is perfect for what I need.

After researching the available, low cost capture devices I chose this one. The primary objective was to transfer VHS tapes to Digital, which this device performed in exemplary style. There was no problem installing the software or drivers and it worked as advertised. Although the transfer is a slow process at best, the quality is excellent, both in video and audio. With unattended recording you can start your project and go and do other things. Having a dedicated PC for the operation is tremendous help if you are addicted to the internet. Great little unit.

I use this product to pull recordings off my DVR box to burn onto DVDs. Unfortunately you are stuck using the software that comes with this as i haven't been able to get any other software to work properly with this device. Even Windows Movie Maker won't work well with this. But the software performs it's function and does a good job at that. My videos look good and sound is also good. The software is very easy to use and the procedure is painless and quick. I give this one a thumbs up and am loving it.

I only gave this four stars because no software is available for Vista 64. I have a laptop with Windows XP so I installed it on that machine and and the software installed easily and the conversions were of goood quality.

I connected it up right out of the box and it worked as good or better than the Dazzle product that I was using. I am using it on Vista.

I bought this device to transfer VHS tapes of family to my PC for later burning to disks. The software installed OK, but to get the drivers installed for the device was a real challenge. They would not install off the disk normally, I finally figured out that I had to go into device manager and find the drivers, and install them. Recording from the source was hit and miss, often I would have to start, and stop the capture process several times before it would actually start to record. Also, once the software began to record, I could not do anything else on the PC, the screen saver its self would cause the whole thing to freeze up! Once I managed to record, the quality was just OK, and also during recording, I noticed the audio was out of sync with the video, it was very annoying. I returned it. System was a Core 2 Dual CPU, with 4GB of RAM, Windows XP 32 Bit.

I read the reviews of this product before i bought it and was not sure if i should try it or not but i did and when i got it installed the software and ran the program and the video quality from the VCR to the computer was excellent, no image problems or skipping or any malfunctions whatsoever. For the money, ease of use and quality of the reproduction i would recommend it to whoever wants to do video reproductions.

read the reviews, took a chance, easy to instal, software works great, easy to use. Installed security cameras, can now record on my computer, and view from home. By the way my knowledge of computers is about average (better than those other guys who couldn't get it to work right)

i bought this product to convert my VHS videos into mpeg.product works fine but the conversion is poor quality.if u looking for good quality this is not the product.returned it

The USBAV-192 was easy to set up and use. I didn't give it top rating since it turned out not to do what I was looking for, not the products problem. I did find some lag between the video and sound in review mode but once I recorded a VSH movie everything was in sync. Good product for the price. As always, fast delivery and good product.
