AKG Y 50 On Ear Headphones w/ In Line Remote and Mic - Black
Cons:Sound quality leaves something to be desired. These cans are a little dark-sounding. Mids are recessed. Snares don't pop like I like them to, and vocals don't have the fullness I desire. Bass is often bloated.Headband gets uncomfortable after long sesions (minimal padding)*Not a con but a note - comes with a case, which is cheap. It's this thick foamy fabric. Would like to see a faux leather or just a better designed pouch
Pros:Great noise isolation. The pads on the cups are very thick and help immensely to block outside noise.Aluminum cups and all-around good build quality.Detachable cable. Not only detachable, but non-proprietary! This is how detachable cables -should- be done.StylishAbove-average sound quality |
As lifestyle headphones, the AKG Y50 excels. These cans hits all the marks - stylish, noise isolating, good build quality, and above-average sound quality. Are they up to par with AKG's traditional professional gear? Of course not, but AKG has done a great job with their first foray into unknown territory in this emerging lifestyle headphone market. They won't be replacing your studio monitors, but you'll be itching to put them on on your way out the door.
