AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:
none noticed
Pros: Good price, excellent performance per/$ Comment:
I bought this CPU for use in a HTPC. Works well for a HTPC. Video playback is perfect, able to surf on one monitor and watch a movie on my TV without any hesitation. When watching a DVD or movie played from hard drive CPU usage is approx 30% according to task manager in Windows 7. The CPU went as high as 36°C at approx 30% useage, not bad considering the heat sink with this cpu seems a bit inadequate but does a good cooling job anyhow. I'm not planning on overclocking this CPU as it does the job it was intended for with ease. |

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:- Really horrible stock heatsink. AMD keeps getting cheaper and cheaper on these. I don't mind too much the shrinking of the aluminium block but at least they could give a 120mm fan instead of a loud and unefficient 80mm fan.
Pros:- Price! At 70$ you just can't get any CPU that give you that much value (price/perf). The equivalent in speed if I remember well is the Intel E7200 but it's much pricier. It's also better than the (X2 6000+ 3.0Ghz).- Low power consumption Comment:
I bought this for a computer upgrade of 200-238$ for the mom of my GF. This cpu, 2x1Gb of DDR3 at 40$ and a AM3 mobo with everything onboard was perfect for her needs and is miles in front of her (Pentium 4 + 512Mb). Can even install Win7 64bit on this and it runs super smooth. It's amazing today for how cheap you can get a brand new computer much faster than ur previous one when ur not into gaming/overclocking. I didn't try OC this since she just do stuff like facebook, msn, emails... but I'm sure it would have a good potential. |

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:Only 2 cores. Until very recently, this chip was untouchable in performance per $, but the new AMD Athlon II X3 425 is an interesting alternative for a little more for users who frequently max out two CPU cores.
Pros:Quick budget CPU that is a fantastic upgrade from an older AMD Athlon X2 (Socket 939 or Socket AM2).Fantastically low power consumption, in both idle and load.Great performance per $. Comment:
I still feel like the AMD Athlon II 240-250 are all that 95% of people need, and this chip can handle just about anything - from gaming to Blu Ray and 1080p video to medium to heavy multitasking. Sure triple and quad core CPU's handle video encoding better, but for general Windows usage, an Athlon II works just perfectly. |

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:none
Pros:FastVery cool and quietLow power usageAM3 socketLooks pretty overclock-able Comment:
Bought this for a budget PC upgrade with a ATI 5670 graphics card and a gigabyte motherboard and am very happy so far. It can easily play games such as call of duty modern warfare 2 without issue on max settings. The processor runs very cool, 20C when idling, and a max of 38C with the stock heatsink and no overclocking.Would recommend for a budget build. |

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:-None
Pros:-Price to Performance Ratio-Runs Very Cool and Quiet-Low Power Consumption Comment:
I bought this for a budget gaming/everyday computer. Other processors I was considering were the X2 550, and X4 620. I thought the 620 had disappointing gaming performance and the 550 at stock speed was not significantly faster to justify the ~30% price increase, and for unlocking/overclocking I would need to invest in a new heatsink. I'm very happy with my choice. Paired with the 4770 it can run most games maxed out very smoothly. |

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:Not a Quad core.
Pros:Fast Dual core Comment:
Awesome selection for a processor, this thing is 3.0 ghz!For current gaming this is the ideal choice, considering majority of programs and games do not support Quad processors this is an excellent and cheap solution for gaming. However the only reason i'd say a Quad would be better is if you did not want to upgrade to Quad int he next 5-10yrs, if you want something excellent until Quad support; This is the ultimate choice. |

Cons:Not a great cooler
Pros:Cheap and very fast when overclocked. Comment:
For a low cost build and the overclocking abilities of this CPU, it is a bargain.I have this cpu clocked to 3.75 Gig at 1.472V.G.Skill PC2 8000 at 1000 MHz 2.1V (250 FSB).Mainboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA 770-UD3, also a low cost and very good overclocking board. AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:- Nothing wrong to say for that price
Pros:- Very good price when in bundle with Gigabyte 785G- Good performance for the price- Perfect for an HTPC- Good Energy efficiency Comment:
This AMD cpu series is very good considering the price they are selling them. I builded 2 HTPC and they are performing really well. They are enough powerful for the day to day tasks. Very good values if not needed for a gaming machine. |

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:Heatsink got smaller...
Pros:Fast, energy efficient, cheap Comment:
I'm upgrading from the first Athlon 64 X2 generation (Socket 939) 3800+ 2.0ghz. To compare the 2, I could easily tell there's definitely a difference in processing power. What wasn't the difference was the temperature. The 250 ran around 37-38 on idle, while my 3800 ran around 34-35 degrees on stock cooling. I sorta expected that if the 250 had better energy efficiency, I expected to run cooler...but it didn't. That's probably because of the heatsink given...Now this processor in my opinion isn't worth $94. I got mine during the bundle deals...which was about $80 if we split the price in half. Because...if the 245 can sell for $80, and the 240 can sell for even less...at only .1 or .2 ghz difference, then why bother with the 250? You might as well buy the 240 or 245 and overclock this easily to a 250, you can save $20 and that money can be used to purchase a better heatsink. |

AMD Athlon II X2 250 3.0GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Processor
Cons:None as far as the actual cpu is concerned (see the summary)
Pros:45nm -Runs Very cool:1.34v (stock) under ~30C (Asetek's low cost H2O kit)DDR2-DDR3 SupportGanged-Unganged mode (2x64bit or 128bit)"Separate" NorthBridge,Memory Controller allowing to set any RAM speed, regardless of the CPU (speed) was alwaysa weak spot, since the memory speed always depended on the cpu (speed)Using with DFI' 790gx M2RS Comment:
I thought this would be a "cooler" smaller Windsor but it's not, cache speeds is almost doubled, according toEverest, and it does seem quicker thenX2 6000,Opteron 165e3.00,Opty1210e3.00Not to sound like a windows installer but this is the"Best Athlon" yet and I'v had a few (dozen)PricePerformanceCompatibility (ddr2/3)Headroom (~3.6ghz stock volts)Flexibility(can run the CPU lower then HT/NB speed if needed)*******************************************************Was trying to price match it at 99CAD with NCIX only goingto 106 and then putting it on sale for 88 the next day.Guess the message is - don't bother us with the price match just buy it where it's cheaper next time........... Asking people on various forums for a computer on a $600 budget led me to this CPU.Reading thorough reviews on reputable review sites gave an impression that this unit is all about good performance at a competitive price-point.So far the units been working great and I agree that this unit is great for the price and its performance.
