Cons:not quite sure
Pros:it has 8 cores! Comment:
Hey Dominic can you link me something to read about that? I didn't know and want to know why. Windows 7 isn't currently able to take full advantage of this tech. why is that and I'm curious if it will be fixed or if its foreshadowing new windows release. Thanks! Amnothihgmail.com |

AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 8 Core Processor 3.6GHZ Socket AM3+ 125W Retail Box
Cons:Very loud and annoying heatsink will drive you nuts!
Pros:marginally faster then my old phenom x6.. Comment:
Ok we all know that windows is not able to fully take advantage of this new architecture so were not getting full performance out of this chip. The only problem I have with this is it runs hot as hell at idle, and the fan that comes with the cpu is so loud it spins at almost 6800 rpm all the time because the chip is so hot it goes over 60 with out even putting a load on it or gaming. If you're reading this and thinking of this chip just get the 1100t or 1055t.. much quieter fan and similar performance. |

AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 8 Core Processor 3.6GHZ Socket AM3+ 125W Retail Box
Cons:None that I can think of
Pros:-Awesome performance-Best bang for buck-Great overclocking Comment:
I got this CPU as an upgrade from an Intel Q6600 quad core and wow, what a difference. And all for less than $300, definitely best bang for the buck. I love the performance of this processor, it can handle anything I throw at it. I am a big PC gamer, BF3, MW3, World of Tanks, Batman Arkham City, and the list goes on. This processor is very highly recommended, just awesome. Way to go AMD!! |

AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 8 Core Processor 3.6GHZ Socket AM3+ 125W Retail Box
Cons:Hassle of returning my i7 :)
Pros:8core, AMD, price and overall value. Comment:
Great CPU, it is very fast, and I love it. Gaming is amazing, BTF 3 runs like a bulletand don't listen to what people say, try it and see if you like it. I haven't overclocked it yet, but I will once I finish making the wiring look good. Sure this CPU doesn't match with i7, but if you factor in the price, and performance, you get better value. Been AMD fan since Pentium 2 |

AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 8 Core Processor 3.6GHZ Socket AM3+ 125W Retail Box
Cons:price premium for the metal case or guarantee of overclocking capacity ?
Pros:Good CPU, good overall system price Comment:
I do some development and this beast is good for me.FYI, timed linux kernel compilation (my cfg): 2min vs. 17 min for my previous (temporary) CPU (Athlon II X2 245).A nice thing is that it gets very quiet when idle (1.4GHz).When busy+overclocked (currently very stable at 4.062GHz), my Antec Earthwatts 650W PSU is making new noises. So you can know when the computer has finished its work !I took this one over the 8120, because I'm stupid and I don't want AMD to die. |

AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 8 Core Processor 3.6GHZ Socket AM3+ 125W Retail Box
Cons:Really hard to find right now... Intels flagship is still better, but the FX8150 is considerably cheaper and can easily match/excede with tweaking. :)
Pros:Awesome, very great performance!!!I am very happy with my CPU. This was one of the last places I was able to find one in stock too. The CPU itself comes in an awesome collectors metal box. The 8150 in my system easily OC'ed with only multiplier and no voltage bump to 4.3Ghz using a Zalman CNPS9900MAX air cooler. The system RAM is also able to reach a MUCH higher clock with the FX than my old PhenomII X6 1090T system. I was having trouble getting over 1800-1850Mhz with PhenomII. The FX 8150 CPU right now is doing 2133 with my Patriot2000Mhz kit(10-11-10-28/2T). System is much more responsive and smoother. Thanks! Comment:
Very nice CPU for the money. My favorite aspects are the ease of overclocking with no voltage increases,on AIR to 4.3Ghz. RAM bandwidth is much improved and able to reach higher speeds. CPU looks identical to all the AMD CPUs I can remember from the past 5+ years or more. |

AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 8 Core Processor 3.6GHZ Socket AM3+ 125W Retail Box
Cons:My processor and my roommate's CPU came in the same shipment. My tin was slightly damaged and my roommate's was pretty much demolished. The CPU had bent pins and had to be RMA'd. The outside packaging looked pretty fine so I am very suspicious as to the condition of the CPUs upon leaving the warehouse.- This just in, my roommate has the Order ID so I can't rate lower than 3 stars.. YAY, GO NCIX (n)
Pros:Processor gives a Windows 7 score of 7.7 on my rig, clocked at 4064 MHz/core (18x multiplier). Glides through my games with no sweat and still hungry for more. Comment:
Even if it was OK when it was on its way to being shipped out, NCIX would have had to mess up pretty bad in the packaging of the product in order for the bottom of the tin to be mushroomed out and for the CPU pins to also be bent. Just seems like it would be a more likely scenario that an employee would try to dodge a bullet by sending out his damaged inventory and letting RMA deal with it than for some seemingly impossible twisted shipping and handling messup to be this bad.I'm also disappointed with the service on the Forums. Unless by some miracle NCIX actually reads their reviews and I get offered a new tin or something I'm scratching them off my list for good. |

AMD Bulldozer FX-8150 8 Core Processor 3.6GHZ Socket AM3+ 125W Retail Box
Cons:Hot :(Will double as my heater for the winter.
Pros:8 freaking cores!!!Highly overclockableRuns everything i do (Gaming , video and audio editing) extremely well. Comment:
Despite what most reviews have stated i decided to get this chip anyway. I am not dissapointed at all. It is a far leap from my old Intel 775 Q6600 that i could no longer push.I do alot of gaming along with video & audio editing so 8 cores at 4.4Ghz significantly drops the conversion time. For example i encoded a full 1 1/2 hour Bluray to H.264 in HDAlong with compressing 5 audio albums to FLAC format (give or take 30Gb of raw data)In about 3 minutes. As opposed to 30-45 minutes on my older intel quad with same workload.Anyone who hasn't tried the bulldozer chip and bases their comments and thoughts on other 'reputible review sites' should consider taking it for a test drive first.I know that i am content with the performance and price i paid for the whole package. Which was under 1000$I don't give it a perfect rating simply because the chip itself runs quite hot. That is even under watercooling. NCIX has the best prices on these in Canada and delivered it next day A+ to that! |
AMD's Bulldozer line was hyped to be their first line of cheap to beat Intel since the Core 2 line started completely dominating 5 years ago. While the FX line doesn't full live up to all expectations, there are definitely some uses for this chip. Now, if you're building a gaming rig, this is NOT the chip for you. Yes, for most games it will be alright, as it's certainly not a slow chip, but performance for money-wise (and just sheer performance numbers) the FX line is still dominated by Intel. An i5-2500k will eat this thing for breakfast, especially once you put a decent overclock on it. Since the per-core performance is actually worse that the Phenom II line, the average game using 2-3 threads is going to suffer. Now, what is this chip good for? Highly parallel computing tasks. Compiling, encoding, and all sorts of productivity related tasks. Anything that can really make use of having 8 physical cores in there. So essentially, what you have here is a productivity monster that can do gaming, but at the cost of half the cores remaining idle, and delivering poorer gaming performance than any if its intel, or even older AMD rivals.Productivity: go for it.Gaming: Go Intel.
