AMD Sempron 2650 1.45GHZ AM1 64Bit Dual Core 1MB Cache Processor
Cons:- probably only recommended for HTPC use
Pros:- great for HTPC- low power usage Comment:
I considered going for the more "higher end" 5350 Athlon AM1 APU but took a chance on this little one. Was I surprised how well it performs in a HTPC. I use OpenELEC and it installed without any problems and felt pretty responsive for a low end APU. Not sure how it would perform with a full OS like Windows but I sure am happy with this APU's GPU hardware decoding performance. No problems playing HD mpeg 4 videos. Plus all quiet and cool to the touch. |
Use this to power a FreeBSD server paired with two gigs of ram and a 6 TB hard drive. It has a very limited workload, however it's never struggled and fulfills the need (backups and torrents) without complaint. Understand it's not a performance chip however for headless unix system it works great
