This device works exactly as advertised. The NCIX DisplayPort cable is very expensive, so I bought one at a drug store chain. And then I wasted three hours trying to get the thing working. Finally figured that the cable was the problem. Another vendor provided an inexpensive DP cable, and now everything is fine. I am using USB 2.0. You don't really want this thing for full-motion video, but for a second or third monitor, it's great.Installation recommended sequence: 1. Throw out the installation CD. 2. update  your video card driver. I don't see why it should make a difference, but it seems to. 3. Download and install drivers from Startech. 4. Plug the adapter into the computer. 5. Plug the monitor into the adapter.
