APC Back-UPS ES BE650G UPS
Pros:-APC Brand (Should be reliable)-Price
Comment:
I couldn't believe the price on this thing when I got it. I'm loving it so far! It's my first ever UPS. Instructions and setup were a breeze. I skipped the Powerchute software and went with the default Windows controls. My original reason for getting it was I was experimenting with RamDisks and FancyCache software. (RAM assisted drives) Also, I noticed some odd power fluctuations in my house during the winter. Well, it's saved my bacon a few times since then! At least twice it kept my computer going while I was completing tasks. (like video encoding or writing an invoice)I'd say it's already paid for itself - and since I'm messing with FancyCache write caching, it's definitely saved my HDD's filesystem from corruption! |

Pros: dependable product Comment:
I'll tell you the story about what happened a few years ago if i didn't had this similar product. a few years ago when we had the "storm of the century" the winds was recorded at 236 kph and lightning was crazy, the lightning hit the tree next to my house then a few seconds after it hit my neighbor's tree, a minute after a massive lightning blew the hydro post to bits, it was a very bad storm but i was smart in my way, i have a few apc ES 550VA products with surge protectors, and all my outlets have surge protectors, it saved all my electronics in my house, the only thing that didn't survive was the light bulbs, they all blew. one thing, on the manual they say plug this ups directly to the wall outlet, (don't) the power surge will eventually destroy it. my sister had only the ups plugged in the wall and it lasted a year before the smoke came out of it. plug a surge protector first then your ups on that, it saves the ups from massive power spikes. i would recommend the item on this page http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=44067&vpn=P11VNT3&manufacture=AMERICAN%20POWER%20CONVERSION to use before the ups, it will save you a bundle, i still have my old ups and it's now 7 years old and i changed the battery once. |

Good Replacement for my Back-up 520
Comment:
Worked right out of the box. Easy to setup. Like that it has more sockets than the Backup 520. The 520 is now about 10 years old, worked very well, through many thunderstorms, and power outages. APC was always a good investment when it came to Power line filtering, and UPS equipment. |

Now I can forget about power outages
Comment:
It did exactly what I bought it for. Within hours of my setting it up, my power went off four times in a two hour period for about ten minutes each time. The first time I uttered my usual ''damn!'' But my computer kept operating. By the fourth time, I was happily ignoring the outages, even though I had to reset my clocks again. |

A little hiccup during set up, but works great
Comment:
The only issue I had was that the CD that came with the product would not load. I contacted support and they sent me a link to download a different version of the software for Vista. This web site would not accept the user name and password that I had previously provided and I had to go through that all again. Onec doe, all is great! |

It works as advertised!

How timely my purchase and set up of this APC unit turned out to be. For Christmas I picked up a new high end computer for my son and wanting to be a risk adverse I picked up this battery backup unit. Well ... it was tested this 4th week of 2010 and performed flawlessly. Set up and configuration was extremely easy. You do need to note that only the one side protects your plugged in devices with the battery in case of power failure. Highly recommended and will probably pick up another one. |

APC is the best
Comment:
I am the buyer for about 25 users in a large department. I have tried many brands of UPS systems and can easily say that APC is the best. Long life and dependable systems. This model in particular is a great workhorse and a great value for the price. |

Good Job,Well Done
Comment:
I have two of these units to protect two computers. Here in the South we get violent thunderstorms with bad lightning too. More than once these units have done the job. No data loss, and proper shutdown. My computers will run about 20mins. on the battery power. I also like the line surge protection & the line noise filters. Good software too. |

APC works great
Comment:
I had not used a battery backup in a long time, but we occasionally have power outages -- often short ones during thunderstorms. Sometimes they would be only a couple of seconds, but my computer would always go down with just a surge protector. With this new APC UPS, I can continue working. I am using Kubuntu 9.04 (Linux), so I can't use the Windows software that came with the APC. However APC provides configuration info on their website, and an application gapcmon, monitors the battery and power events. One piece of advice -- plug the important items -- computer and monitor -- into the side that does surge protection AND battery backup. The other side is surge protection only. |

APC Back-UPS ES BE650G UPS
Comment:
Probably necessary for every computer these days. Of course I have all the essentials plugged in, but fortunately haven't had to ''use'' it with a power outage yet. |
using it to keep a Panasonic plasma tv, dvd player, vhs player, beta sp player up and running and so far it's great. works well and doesn't have a flicker on the tv when power goes out. pretty much essential for expensive electronics.nice price too!
