APC Power-Saving Back-UPS XS 1300

I was very happy with this unit -- EXCEPT! I have two computers and one big monitor plugged into it. It only gives me a few minutes of backup power, unlike the 85 minutes mentioned in the specs. Oh, well. Second, with just one computer and the monitor, the unit is quiet. As soon as I flip on the second computer, a loud fan kicks in. Oh, well, OK so far, at least I have a few minutes project and surge protection. Here's the kicker. I had one computer and the monitor on. I flipped on the second computer and the UPS cut power to all my computers. I was right in the middle of printing something, it cut out and data was lost. So the manufacturer seems to think this is normal.
