APEX MI-100BK Black Computer Case

I bought the case to put a Zotac GF8200 AMD motherboard into. I intended to install one of the AM2 heatsinks that I had on hand. No Go. The power supply hangs right over the top of the heatsink and, in fact, keeps you from installing a normal one unless you wedge it in there. This case is poorly designed in that respect. I ended up having to buy a Silverstone NT-07 heatsink so there would be room for both the CPU and PSU (and there's still very little). Also, to increase air flow, I was hoping to install the hard drive in the 3.5 inch bay, but the wider Silverstone (short, but wide) kept me from doing that. So, I ended up installing the hard drive as designed (vertical on the side of the case) and which worked well. It just caused unacceptable air flow. I installed an 80x80x15 fan on the inside of the case side, blowing out, lowering temps dramatically (it's loud, though). I'm glad I bought the case, but it's far from perfect.

I bought this along with a Jetway JNC81-LF and Athlon X2 5000 (65w) and am going to have to do some mods to keep the noise down. (something along the lines of using a hole saw in order to turn the PSU upsidedown and mount a grille on top) It runs quite hot, and the PSU pulls heat right off the chipset and cpu... no good. Probably shoulda stuck with an n330 board, but I had higher aspirations. (and the n270 in my netbook is terrible) Case will look sharp on my media center once all the kinks are worked out.

Great box. Does whatever I need it to do. Sits next to my Samsung television and they look great together. Great cheap little box!

be careful with the usb wire, they are cheap wires and ripped when i was plugging it into the motherboard. its a slim and a very nice TH case.

This is the 2nd one of these I have built. Perfect size considering it has a PSU inside. Fits a multi card reader and optical drive perfectly.

Not a bad case I suffed a Intel DG41MJ motherboard in it, runs great. Only thing i can find that might pose a problem is the power supply sits right over the CPU. Now this may not cause any issues and if it does i will just mount a fan on one of the side vents, but no problems as of yet.

Very nice looking and functional case. I'm using it for a home server with only 1 hard drive. Could be improved with a better power supply and large thumb screws for the cover. The power supply runs rather hot with an Intel N330 D945GCLF2 motherboard which is odd. Most non-performance computers run cooler at idle.

Bought this as a bundle along with an Intel Atom motherboard and a Kingston 2 GB RAM. Makes a great little PC which I use as a video server to my TiVo. The fan is very quiet and the built in 1 Gbps LAN card is great. The whole system-including 1.5 TB hard drive-draws about 35W when running.

This is a great ITX case for minimalists. Do wish the custom power supply was 80plus and it really could have used to have had low profile SATA power connectors for SATA CD drive. Saying that, you could also use to have a right angle SATA cable for said SATA CD, as its pretty tight. Nice and quiet.

This case is perfect for the Atom motherboard. Only Found one flaw, had to super glue the slider contact that opens the DVD.

Perfect for what I needed it for, a computer for my new television. Takes up little space in my entertainment center.

Case, chassis and cover all are good quality materials. Front covers come with plastic protection against scratches, which is nice. Power supply fan is quiet and when coupled with an ION MB, it is amazingly quiet. A little tricky sliding in the DVD drive --very tight. Case is small and room is tight, so it is easier to work on everthinng if you take out the power supply first, then re-install it when you are finished. Woud definitely buy another.

Came with a barebone kit with Atom board, went together easily and works fine. 2 flaws: - Power supply fan makes much more noise than expected and hoped for - Cover is a little hard to slide on and off

case seemed to small for a 775 socket mini ITX motherboard. Everything fits but power supply and dvd drive rest on top of processor fan, with only 1/2" between them. Doesn't seem to be able to get enough air flow. Probably great for an atom processor type board

This case is awesome if you want a small form factor ITX machine. The only problem I had with it was that there is nowhere for the heat to go from the power supply or processor. The top of the case is less than 1/4" from the top of the power supply fan thus nowhere for the fan to draw from, and the processor does not have much cooling either. When I fired this thing up you could fry an egg on the top of the case. (almost as fast as you could with a skillet.) They could use some holes on the top of the case for heat to escape. I fixed this by cutting a large hole on top half over the power supply and half over the processor, then mounted a 120mm fan on top.(benefits of being a machinist.) Runs really cool now! I installed a Zotac ITX motherboard with a Core 2 Quad processor and 4 gigs of ram. The stock processor fan barely clears the corner of the power supply, I tried a thermotake low profile cpu fan but it was too tall???? Go figure.

This was a very nice and easy to use case. I used it for a barebones build with an Atom 330 Intel board. Directions were minimal, but the case is not complex. The only thing I didn't care for were the doors on the front. They felt a bit flimsy to me, however they have not broken in the use I've put them so far. I will buy this case again!
