ASRock AM1B- ITX Mini ITX AM1 2XDDR3-1600 1XPCIEX16 USB3.0 DVI D-Sub HDMI Motherboard
Cons:Buggy keeps crashingDrives plugged in the 2 etra sata keep disappearing and the system keeps crashing until deactivated in the bios.
Pros:Extra USB3 headerExtra 2x sata Comment:
I bought this board to make a Linux Lite 2.0 Machine but the system slowed down with the open source driver or the proprietary one. I decided to update the BIOS to the latest version v1.50. It did not solved the problem. I tried many different linux distros that performed better but still not good enough for average use. Finally decided to give up on linux and installed windows 8.1. It crashed during the install. Wipe the drive clean and tried a second time. I was able to install windows but it crashed during the update process. I managed to install the update s after a few try but the screen kept going black and reboot. I was going to send back the board but I kept searching the web for workaround. I finally found someone with similar problems. I switched the drives and disable in the BIOS the extra sata connectors. I decided to try Zorin OS 9 core and the system works fine and I enjoy Zorin OS 9 a lot.I don't recommend this board and I will stay away from any Asrock product in the future. I have been building computers for a very long time and never had any problem with Asus. I tried Asrock motherboards for 2 builds and had a lot of problems both times. |

ASRock AM1B- ITX Mini ITX AM1 2XDDR3-1600 1XPCIEX16 USB3.0 DVI D-Sub HDMI Motherboard
Cons:Lack of PCIe X16 Support (All AM1 Platforms run at X4), No WIFI/Mini PCIe
Pros:USB 3.0 Expansion for Case (Front),Black PCB, Made in Vietnam, Open Layout (less wiring problem), 4 SATA Ports Comment:
Bought this originally for a SteamOS built. Was disappointed in the performance of SteamOS mostly because the games didn't run properly. I paired it up with an Athlon 5350 w/ nVidia 560 TI.HOWEVER, after I installed Windows 8.1 it ran really smooth. So far I did default settings for my 560 TI graphics card. It can run Thief, Tomb Raider, Metro: Last Light, and etc pretty good. The APU itself doesn't bottleneck if you keep the settings medium/high. I would recommend this motherboard to anyone who wants more SATA ports and USB 3.0 front panel support for their case. Compared to other motherboards this seems most logical and economical. |

ASRock AM1B- ITX Mini ITX AM1 2XDDR3-1600 1XPCIEX16 USB3.0 DVI D-Sub HDMI Motherboard
Cons:None yet
Pros:-USB 3.0 + Front header-4xSATA6G ports-HDMI port-Cheap in price Comment:
Pretty good board for the price. I had picked up a mITX case a few months back. I was looking around for something for storage and possibly some videos. Got it paired with an athlon 5150 and it does the job quite well. Great for home office, HTPC or storage unit. |
Good little board with more on-board peripherals than I needed. I combined with the AMD Athlon 5350 processor to use in a Ubuntu linux system, and more recently running Windows 10 technical preview. I have not had a single problem running with this board.
