I seen the all black picture and needed a DVD Blu-ray combo drive, but sadly it was grey with a black front. Not a big deal, otherwise I would have bought an LG, I actually prefer then over ASUS. When it spins up, gets super loud, like a helicopter. Not a bad optical drive, just at the price point could have gotten something better.

Good BD device. When he work's, he work's well. The only problem is the device dont like the sleep mode of Windows. After the sleep mode, the device work but you can not watch a movie (skip). You need to shutdown the computer and start it again. But after that you can enjoy a movie.

have bin using this over a year with no problems plays blu-rays just fine burnt some dvd and cds with no problems.

What can I say about this drive, well, it works, it's fairly easy on the ears, and it comes with some software even. It doesn't burn blu-ray, but who needs to do that? If you rent an blu-ray, you can watch it on your computer. The face plate could be a bit more modern looking, and it would be nice if it was white to go with my case too (but that's just asking too much).

Easy to install and easy to use... not that anyone uses these anymore! Bought this to replace my Asus DVD only burner, opted for this over the Blu-ray burner simply since I have no desire to or plan to burn Blu-ray discs... that era has passed and I just got rid of the last of my DVD's... Will keep my 20 or so Blu-ray discs but now a days everything is downloaded and streamed... Buying discs for movies OR games is such a waist of time and garbage collection. It's nice to have my computer able to play blu-rays and the odd disc needs to be burned here and there... Voilà! Works well out of the...ummm plastic(OEM) and looks/sounds great. latest firmware already onboard

As mentioned above, the one I got only worked intermittently, but when it did work it worked as I expected.

Obviously you can't expect much from the lowest priced blu ray reader here. Gets the job done and that's about it. Don't expect much in terms burning speed or anything.

it works perfectly, installation took seconds literally, could read lots of other discs than bluray too like cds and dvds, of course movies from a bluray are stunning

It does its job fine, and I have not experienced any performance problems, or malfunctions yet. This brings bluray capabilities to my gaming rig, and Im satisfied overall.

I haven't tested the DVD writing, but I can only assume it works fine like all the others. As for the Blu-Ray and DVD reading, this does the job exactly as you'd expect. Also, being an ASUS, it does feel a little better quality than the others.

This is a basic blu ray drive, but it does the job for 95 percent of people. I recommend it for use in a budget to midrange build.

The drive itself can read disks with no problem. It is my first blu ray drive and I found it a bit noisy sometimes. I guess the drive is somewhat cheap because it doesn't come with blu ray media player software so it can't play blu ray movies from stores. So this is a good product if you are only using it to burn and rip disks. If you want to watch store bought blu ray disks (I dont but some people might) then get a drive that comes with the software.

I needed an optical drive quickly and picked this one at NCiX Toronto store (Finch and Midland). Great service, great product. If you know what you need.(1) I need to *play* Blu-Ray (BD). This is a reader. If you need to write BD, this product is not for you. You might want to reconsider your need to write BD. Once you factor in the cost of the media and the size of your data, in most cases a USB flash key will be a better choice.(2) I don't need software. I use Linux and software to play BD is freely available. This drive is OEM. No software with it. If you need software, you might be better off with a non-OEM drive; or at least you need to factor in the acquisition of software to operate this.Bottom line: great price, great product, if you know what you are doing.

I was unable to register this product via ASUS' Support website on account of its Serial Number not being recognized. That sucks.Apart from that, I've experienced no interoperability issue, no malfunction, no performance problems. This brings inexpensive Blu-Ray functionality to my HTPC. I'm satisfied. Though I wish I could register its warranty with ASUS...Recommended nonetheless.

This is a pretty nice and fairly plain Blu-Ray / DVDRW drive. Fairly straightforward to install and use. This was for a friend's build - I have a Samsung Blu Ray drive myself which I do like a bit better. I've never liked the software on any Blu-Ray drive that I've purchased though.
