Nice HTPC. Quickly, Low cost, Silence. Will mostly run anything I throw at it. Initial board I got had bad hardware with a 0x00000124 error (extensive testing did isolate the board as the result in). But only took one particular egg off for that challenge. Other egg was removed due to the truth that the Overscan handle is awful on my Samsung HL67A750, does not scale adequately. Never had this concern with NVIDIA overscan correction. Really hard to colour right factors to appear proper. Specific Bluray intros artifact the photos on the root menu. Could be the odd overscan resolution I am forced to run at but the processor is not pegged. When contemplating the older ASUS board I was employing with the NVIDIA 8600GT I under no circumstances had have the screen or color concerns I have with this board. I like the board, dont get me wrong, but I hope they modify the CCC to support better overscan correction. General a decent computer. |

-Overall performance over Atom-Support for a dedicated GPU-AMD's APU-Overclockable-Plays uncomplicated games decently-Overclock Fail protected Can't overclock CPU above 1.eight (DON'T Attempt 2GHz!)-Not quad core/Hyperthreaded :S but I knew that when getting. Quad core are to come out around 2011 Q3. I purchased this machine as a cheap desktop that could play MC, browse the web, watch videos, and so on... I have overclocked this guy to 1.eight safely, but sadly I cannot get it to 2Ghz (SHare if you can!; Attempt AT YOUR Personal Threat!!!!). I have it paired with 4Gigs of RAM, a 5450GPU, 320HDD, 380Watt PSU. I have a air cleaner which blows cold air on the Heatsink so it is under no circumstances hot. Before that the GPU ran Really hot ). Excellent method for servers, HTPC, standard user. |

Amazing board, plays each video I throw at it - Blu-ray, 1080P MKV rips, etc. Absolutely silent and utilizes significantly less power than a flashlight. so far, I haven't been capable to get TMT5 to bitstream HD audio. Dolby digital and DTS operate just fine. Probably a problem with TMT. Install the Shark007 pack for all hardware acceleration or MKV files. |

Great motherboard, Using it for my HTPC and operating private website. Load it up with 6GB ram. Plays 1080 video just fine. none If your video at 1080 is a little choppy try and improve your video shared memory to at least 512 or a lot more. I know any much less then that it will shudder. |

Generally a netbook in a micro-ATX type issue.- Lots of computing energy for a server/HTPC kind of box.- Can run AMD Stream if you're into OpenCL and such- Incredibly low energy. Core speed can differ from 800MHz to 1.6GHz, configurable by Catalyst Manage Center.- Idles at 32C, 2xSuperPI is 45C without having the fan in an Antec NSK2480 with each stock fans installed on their lowest speed.- No Audio/Video stuttering with something I could throw at it (DXVA-enabled drivers, tested h264, Mpeg-four, Mpeg-two, Youtube HD)- Cheaper to obtain this and run it for 2 years compared to my old hot computer for two years.- Installed Windows 7 on fresh disks with no hand-holding. - Windows drivers are not but readily available by means of Windows update. This will surely alter. Till then, you have to use the set up CD, at least to get on the web.- The installation DVD has a goofy GUI. I'd rather just have a list of factors I can install, and not submenus or anything. The DVD file layout is fairly good even though, in that you can effortlessly discover all the drivers in /Drivers with no certain searching expected.- There's a scuff protector on the heatsink that desires to be removed on 1st use; I almost missed it and stunk up my apartment.- The BIOS boot order icons are a bit useless with a number of drives, as it only lets you pick "hard disks" or CD/DVD. The actual boot order configuration menu lets you sequence the individual disks also. It comes with a goofy small fan. It looks like you just screw it into the heatsink, and then you can apparently overclock a bit. I'm not completely certain why Asus integrated it; I don't assume the low energy Computer marketplace is the kind to overclock. The folks that do overclock almost certainly won't use the little fan. There's a tiny small allow/disable switch for "TurboKey" but it isn't specifically effectively documented. Mine came with it switched to "disabled" but apparently the default is "enabled."It's got UEFI, which I locate a bit jarring getting applied to the old ugly BIOS's of yesteryear. Due to the fact it's UEFI, I don't know how easy it would be to get Windows XP on this. I'm employing Windows 7 Expert, 64-bit and it works excellent. It's a new method. If you deviate from the QVL for RAM, who knows what you'll get. I got some Kingston HyperX and it works flawlessly. It doesn't have "fake" RAID or a genuine RAID controller. I suspect it wasn't included because Windows application RAID is now really mature. |

Very good feature set, albeit confusing. To use a PCI-E RAID controller, the BIOS wants to be set to boot with PCI-E graphics first, otherwise the firmware doesn't POST. Realtek 8111E drivers for FreeBSD, not so very good It works fine with a Dell PERC 6/i and 3Ware 7506-eight RAID controllers in FreeNAS. The network efficiency in FreeNAS (FreeBSD) leaves anything to be desired with high CPU utilization, and mediocre rates.I wish there have been a block diagram for the system. The Hudson M1 is not supposed to have USB 3. and no PCI slots.0506 BIOS apparently solves some issues with some PCI-E RAID controllers. My Dell PERC 6/i under no circumstances had a difficulty with the 0404 BIOS. |

Overall a great board for a HTPC. I use it for XBMC and couldn't be more pleased. It'd be nice if Netflix would run but thats the fault of Microsoft not the board. |

Reasonably quickly, extremely stable, great looking (if you are into that) motherboard. Paired up with 8GB of approved Kingston memory and Win 7 Pro. CPU temps hover around 90 F making use of stock speeds and the passive heatsink (no fan) so it is dead quiet. Utilizing one of the USB three. ports with a an external Mediasonic disk enclosure. General it runs just good. Not a single hiccup, BSOD or freeze because I fired it up. It is high-priced compared to some of the atom based alternatives. Some expansion slot brackets for some of the internal ports would of been great. I've been burned by cruddy unstable chipset/CPU AMD drivers in the past (admittedly, that was a Nvidia chipset), so I was a small worried, but this issue rocks. I'm working with it as a low energy server managing about 7TB, and I could not be happier with my acquire. |

The PCI-e slot on this board is not designed for a graphics card being that it's a 4x slot so you shouldn't have any issue with the board not booting when you install a non-graphics card PCIe device. Please make contact with me at Newegg_ASUS_MBSupport@asus.com and give the model name of the PCIe device that you are trying to use so we can test this and aid resolve the issue.Sincerely,ASUS Help Team |

With GPU hardware acceleration it can play just about every thing - Blu Ray, DVD, MKV, AVI. Adobe Flash 10.two plays HD Youtube and other people. With my PicoPSU at usual function I my system runs about 20 watts. When watching 1080P it kicks up to about 26 watts. I have no issue making use of dual monitors. Sleeps and resumes with out any complications in a few seconds. The fan doesn't seem to be needed. The heatsink is only mildly warm without having the fan.As far as 1080P content here are my results. Media Player Home Cinema plays fine with no settings modifications. VLC requires you to allow the setting for hardware acceleration to operate. TotalMedia Theatre five functions fine with hardware acceleration enabled. HD Netflix and Silverlight don't help GPU hardware acceleration yet. The CPU by itself without hardware acceleration doesn't have the power to run 1080p. When I am in the BIOS my Microsoft Laser 5000 mouse goes nuts and skips all over the location. I am not confident but if I will replace my GF9300 ITX HTPC boards with the ITX versions of this but. My GF9300 with with my E8400 CPU has the horsepower to run any video without having any hardware acceleration so I know it will fill my demands for years to come. The E35M1 boards need to have hardware acceleration to run high finish video so the capacity of this technique to help high end video for years to come seriously depends on if hardware acceleration goes mainstream and stays there for years to come. |

I had to goto local UPS distribution, find driver and track down exactly where he delivered it. It's pretty frequent for new boards to market place to have Firmware problems / memory compatibility concern. It also really should be an "easy" fix which is why I didn't take away from the rating. Don't let that deter you from purchasing it. Technically my RAM is not on QVL, but fairly close. For now, maybe buyers need to get RAM that precisely matches QVL.I'm not at all happy with UPS. Little motherboard being micro ATX. Replaced an ATX board in that case and the added room was genuinely nice. Quiet, I utilised the included CPU cooling fan even though I've read that you don't require to. USB3 and SATA III are excellent, even though I don't have any hardware to make use of it yet. Has handled 1080P perfectly to my Television such as BR rips, DVD and Live/Recorded Television. A bit spendier than the other Zacate boards, and some people today definitely want the micro ATX, but that component didn't matter to me. Limited overclocking, but not a deal breaker for me. Has a pretty long POST it seems, but for as often as I really reboot my HTPC, who cares. |

ASUS E35M1-M PRO Fusion AMD E-350 APU Micro ATX Motherboard/CPU Combo
Cons:- fan mounting system
Pros:- price/performance- low power consumption- minimal/no noise- ports! Comment:
Can't complain about this APU, it's a great little thing for a server/web browser/... with its low power consumption and minimal noise generation. It also manages to beat the pants off of any Atom+Ion combination out there now and does it at a better price and at a lower power draw.I do have to complain however about Asus' fan mounting system. I do understand that it doesn't necessarily need a fan and that it's not a typical mounting system. The problem I have is that the fan must be screwed directly to the heatsink. Sure this is a "good enough" solution (especially since you won't likely need the added cooling), it just seems like a major afterthought and just seems ugly because I'm so picky about my computers. In all, don't let this little hiccup throw you off this board, it's awesome. |

ASUS E35M1-M PRO Fusion AMD E-350 APU Micro ATX Motherboard/CPU Combo
Cons:
Haven't found audio drivers for Windows Server 2003 yet (though I sort of stopped looking).
Pros: Silent (passive cooling), 5 sata ports, 1 sata, expansion slots. Comment:
I bought this motherboard and put it in an antec 300 to use as a windows home server. It runs well and is dead silent (though I do have the two case fans running - which is probably overkill for cooling). I was putting in a sata pci card and it was near impossible to fit it into the pci slots though as it was SOOO tight. I need to try another card to see if it was just the card itself or if it was perhaps the motherboard slots. I had an old PSU blow on another computer on the same UPS yesterday and the anti-surge on the motherboard protected it from damage (I was a little surprised that it experienced a surge though).Overall, I was looking for a really low powered platform to run a server off of and this seems to work great. I am really tempted to get a kill-a-watt (or equivalent) device to measure the power coming off the wall. I am using a way bigger power supply than necessary though so my efficiency isn't going to be all that it could be. |
Performance, low energy consumption, USB3., quiet (CPU fan not necessary), PCI slots (for old hardware if ya got it), six SATA, looks (not genuinely significant, but it's nice) None but Employing it for net-leading/desktop w/ Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10. No hiccups at all--very good video playback. Have an old PCI Television tuner that I didn't want to replace, so PCI slots are nice. No install concerns with either OS.
