ASUS GeForce GT630 810MHZ 2GB 1620MHZ DDR3 DVI HDMI D-Sub HDCP PCI-E DirectX 11 Video Card
Cons:Slightly less vibrant screen quality than my old video card
Pros:Quiet, quality-built, slides into slot without problems |
I replaced the old AMD 6450 (with fan) in my Dell computer with this card, since I wanted silence when I work. Yes indeed, it is quiet, since there's no fan. The metal pipes get just a little warm when doing regular work, which of course is expected since there is no CPU fan. Not hot at all. The out-of-the-box (with drivers installed) video quality doesn't seem as good, with a slightly less contrasty, less sharp and less bright look compared with my old card. Of course, it could be that the old card was enhancing the video too much and this one is more neutral. I increased the contrast with the Nvidea software, but it still looks slightly washed out compared with my old card.I won't give it 5 stars since I'm not sure about the video quality, but the build quality is top notch, and the hardware and software install were painless. If you want silence, this seems to be about the fastest card you can get right now. The windows experience index for Graphics went from 5.0 to 6.8, and the index for Gaming Graphics went from 6.3 to 6.8, when I replaced the old video card with this one.
