That was my question when I started shopping for a computer. I bought both. The laptop took about a week to get here and worked right out of the box. The only issue I have had with it is Microsoft Office is installed and you can buy the product key to activate it. How? You can buy the downloadable versions or just buy office in a store. There is no reason to load the computer and then advertise a product on it you can't use. Otherwise I love the laptop. I do online gaming and it is very fast. I now have the graphics resolution up very high and am loving it.

This laptop is very easy to setup and runs multiple programs smoothly. I have not played any high end games on it yet but for anything else it works fine. I was able to get through a 2 hour movie with no power so if you need it buy another battery .

bought this for my son, 1st time buying a laptop unit with the intent of using it for gaming purposes, very fast, keeps up with the game, little hang ups if any, starts up fast, shuts down fast, very decent screen resolution, very light for its size, the better ones are the more expensive units, but for the deal it was right timing

I bought two. My very first 64 bit machines. I gave one to my son and told him to try and crash it. Likewise I did the same. I use these for presentation and I can't afford to have them fail during a conference. I need to know the weaknesses of the machine. My son had two enormous games running side by side and they didn't even lag. All the codecs for video have 64 bit versions which made me very happy. It was a concern with no real way to check ahead of time. I can't say enough. And with the unexpected warranty that Asus gives with it I am sold on both, the name and the product.

I was extremely surprised at the speed this laptop has. It's initial startup was easy to do, got it going quickly. It runs tons of programs at once without slowing down. Opens programs like photoshop almost instantly. Great for recording using a usb interface as well, no latency issues AT ALL. I've loaded a few games, burnout paradise (which runs flawlessly on all maxed settings), the sims 3 (same thing), battlefield 2 (runs perfect on lower settings, a little lag on maxed settings but still runs great) and of course good old counter strike: source (which runs at 155fps I might add) Awesome computer, highly recommended. The only thing I'd fix on it is the battery moves around when you shake the computer, it isn't snug (doesn't affect anything)

I just received my laptop; one, this thing is pretty good looking, it's smooth, and shiny... make sure you wash your hands, grabs prints real easy... first Boot-up took literally 5 minutes after answering the prompts... other than that, this thing performs, I have not tried any high end games, but I know all Source Games and Mods run good so far! It is quiet, does not get too warm, and has no issues with slowing down, unless you're downloading 2 things, and transferring over an entire 50 GB Music Library, at that point, I saw some chug, but nothing I could not work around. The speakers that come on the laptop (I know, I know) Are actually HALF decent for what you need. Streams videos with clear sound, and music is not bad either. I wish the sound-card program would have more features, like a system equalizer, but that is not a big deal, There are alternatives. (Get good headphones!) Overall, I am very impressed with this guy! Slick! Real Slick!

There are so many good things about it that make my life easier and comfortable. It is perfect for playing video games and surfing the net. Plus it comes with a built in webcam. All I need now is a mic and can make my own podcast.

Windows 7X64 is everything the reviewers said it would be. ASUS has some bloat ware which was easily removed. I prefer using a wireless mouse so when disabling the touchpad I had to upload new drivers in order to do so....a minor inconvenience. Excellent machine, performance, price and on-time delivery.

This laptop runs very quiet. Almost no noise is hearable. Temperature is well maintained. i3 processor coupled with middle class GPU is more than enough for normal uses. Screen resolution could be better.

Havn't had a single issue with this computer. I purchased it for school, and because I am also a WoW player wanted to have a computer to do it all. Plays WoW like a dream, and of course can do schoolwork. Would be nice if the there were backlights for the keys to see in the dark. Other than that, perfect!

I bought this laptop mostly for school but I wanted something to play games too. Its doing the job. ASUS quality! BUT!! If you want to play heavy games, thik about it because the Mobility Radeon HD 5470 is not quite powerful enough. So its a great laptop for the price but you probably want another computer for your games even if its working good. For those that are not sure about Core i3, it is powerfull enough even if its a dual core. Very good product for the price!

I love the laptop, it does what it's supposed to do. It has a powerful CPU and Video card with lots of RAM. Not a whole a lot of bloatware to be honest. There's only three USB ports, i wish they would have added another 3 ports on the left side instead of the current two. The laptop absorbs the HEAT amazingly well. I also bought a zalman silent laptop cooler. Both products looks really great and works awesome. I still haven't ran into any problems. Warm Regards Michael

Got this laptop for work, it has all the muscle that i needed to handle video capture, editing and video BMP snap shot programs that i regularly use flawlessly. Quick boot, DVD picture is super, would not call it a gaming laptop however. Just wish it came with firewire, overall very happy with purchase.

First I wasn't sure of this one because of the video card, I wanted a gaming laptop with a good video card for games like Sims 2 & 3, this one is great, the graphics are amazing (all settings in high), then I read that it gets hot, do what I did, get a laptop stand , but like any other laptop, it will get hot if you don't put it in a stand. Overall, for this price!! it's a good product.

I bought this for my 10 year old to be able to play games on and it works great. So far haven't found one of his games he can't play and I haven't changed the video card settings off of balanced. He loves it.

Computer performs better then I was expecting. I use it for programming & online Gaming. Plays a heavy resource game like without grunting. Very Impressed.

This Asus laptop was bought at the warehouse, after I was able to play with the store model. It was everything I expected when I got home and played with it even further. It played a high-end first person shooter game at max settings without lag. It plays H.264 movies flawless. The disk player works, but with some CD's it vibrates very loud and annoying. I've tried changing the performance settings and it still has the same issue. Programs do take a long time to load with Win7. I havent tried much to fix that issue. Beware shag carpet owners this laptop is a lint magnet. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great Laptop. Fast shipping by tiger, well packaged. Good value for the current time. i3 is not as future compatible as i5 or 7 but the rest of the computer should be able to handle games and business software for years to come. Multitask very well with no glitches or pauses like my old AMD did.
