ASUS K52F-A1 15.6" Notebook Computer
Cons:
extremely annoying high pitched noise coming from laptop (assumed to be cpu whine)details can be found by googling asus high pitched noisehttp://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&id=20100207170443781&board_id=3&model=K52JR&page=1&count=162Apparently same issue on K52JR models. Streaming media will stutter, not an issue on various other laptops or devices (ipod touch etc), and DPC latency checker shows spikes
Pros: fast, pretty nice screen, decent viewing angles, beautiful keyboard |

ASUS K52F-A1 15.6" Notebook Computer
Cons:
Loud CD drive, Touchpad can be unresponsive
Pros: Battery life, Keyboard, Quietness, Weight Comment:
This is easily the best laptop I've ever owned. It's perfect for any student who needs a powerful laptop with ample hard drive space and an insanely long battery life. It's incredibly light and durable for a laptop its size, and does a better job of picking up wireless signals than any laptop I've encountered. With the Power4Gear fan system, the laptop is completely silent for most uses, and even at full bore is barely audible. The full-size keyboard design is similar to Apple's, which makes the keys very responsive and less prone to getting food and debris stuck beneath them. One of my biggest gripes with the laptop is its touchpad. While it allows two- and three-finger operation to perform different functions, sometimes the pad can become unresponsive to just a single touch, and I couldn't remedy it with any change to the onboard touchpad settings. Additionally, the optical drive is incredibly loud and produces a ridiculous amount of vibration when trying to read a CD or DVD.Overall, this is an excellent laptop. The speed is more than adequate for anything but the most hardcore users, and expandable RAM allows further performance increases. Several small additions like Facial Recognition Logon, a decent onboard sound system, and well-mapped hotkeys add to the presentation, and the laptop itself is aesthetically pleasing and well designed. |

ASUS K52F-A1 15.6" Notebook Computer
Cons:
No bluetooth or eSATA.ASUS version of W7 steals literally 65% performance...remove it!
Pros: Great performance...after you wipe out the ASUS version of Windows 7!Very nice keyboard. Comment:
Performance wise, this is one of the best laptops under 1k. I love the keyboard style. Love the screen. ASUS what is with your version of Windows 7? I measured the performance lost to their crap, and compared it to a fresh install from an OEM cd, and their was literally 60% loss from their setup. If you order this and think it's not fast, blame ASUS software team, the hardware is blazing fast once you set it up right...bad for novice users!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Great specs, good price, excellent keyboard, but totally useless to me in this way. can't take it anywhere quiet such as a library because of the headache inducing sound. need earplugs to use this machine.
