I bought this laptop for something to use in a somewhat harsh environment - hence the low price point requirement. I didn't expect much but went with ASUS because I've had two before and know that they build quality laptops. This is no exception. The frame is very light, and yet it's extremely solid. I feel like I could drop this a few times and not even scratch it. The lines on the inside just scream quality - everything is smooth, sleek and solid. The full numberpad is a nice touch for me, but it does mean that the other keys are kind of crammed around it - takes some getting used to. I frequently use three or more computers at a time, so the keyboard always throws me off initially. There are no USB 3.0 ports but I don't expect that one such a cheap model. I like the HDMI out and having USB ports on both sides.Downsides:One gripe I have is the power adapter - it is tough to insert and even tougher to remove. I thought the trend with laptops was 'trip-safe' cords that come out of the laptop under slight pressure, but I almost need both hands to pry this connector out. At first I was worried that I was breaking it by applying so much force. Never encountered a laptop with such a strong plug - and that's not a good attribute. Also, because of the factory partitions, it's not possible to use all of the hard drive space in one section. Plus, the second partition is not protected by the OS - easy to access the data by pulling the drive and hooking it up to another computer. I'd recommend this for someone looking for a decent-spec, cheap and well made laptop with an excellent warranty. I have always recommended ASUS and this laptop simply reinforces that.
