Excellent Potential CPU Fans? Anyone know if If employing a normal Complete Tower ATX case like HAF 932 are CPU fans needed?

ASUS has offered me access to a new BIOS with on-board RAID functioning now, and it tested out alright. Mainly employing it with Adpatec PCI-E cards, but wanted the flexibility of onboard raid as well, which is working now if desired. Drop the PIKE and give me an further PCI-E and make PCI-e RAID cards!

This motherboard is excellent - as the title says. We just set up our server a couple days ago and it hasn't offered any complications hence far. Runs really awesome. None so far. Operating two 4180 two.6gHz Opterons, 16 gbs unbuffered RAM, 60 GB SSD with Windows Server 2008. Extremely quickly boot, and selection for DOS Command Prompt with the disk. The CPU pins are also in the open, but didn't have any installation difficulties, just have to be cautious when putting and pinning down the CPUs.

Has a good form element, and is a seriously great motherboard for numerous applications. Promise SW ROMB is not working, ASUS released a driver on their website, but its only for the OS, and i cant seem to uncover a way to update the BIOS. Im possessing a difficult time discovering any info on this, and it practically doesn't exsist outside newegg and the one particular page on the ASUS support internet site.

+Lots of attributes+ATX form factor enables for flexibility when developing a technique+Great cost for a dual CPU board -On-board RAID NOT functional.-ASUS assistance is lackluster for their server systems I guess I should give myself 1 egg, as I have read the evaluations, both right here and elsewhere and Nonetheless bought the board. Asus's server division apparently isn't as up to par as their desktop division is. I contacted support about the non functioning RAID and it took pretty much a week to get a response, which was supposed to have the BIOS attached to fix the issue, but it was not. So, I contacted them agian, nearly another week and I get a reply that the new BIOS is now posted on the web. This board is MONTHS old, why does it take ASUS so extended to get updates out? This is not at all a issue with their desktop boards, which was the ONLY reason I was willing to "take a likelihood" on this board. Other than that nevertheless, the board is in fact operating flawlessly. Understanding now how thier server division handles their enterprise, I will go with Tyan or Supermicro for my subsequent server build.

Very good costNice quantity of CPUsLooks like superior options for PIKE or On Board Promise onboard RAID does not perform, confirmed with ASUS tech help, taking a even though to get it resolved. For a feature that is touted on their site and box, this is unacceptable.PIKE cards overall performance is not incredibly excellent, lacking BBUs and quite a few other items, not a great option to the on board. Superior to use PCI-e RAID card. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Client,We apologize for the problems you are experiencing with the Promise on-board RAID. The Promise RAID drivers are now available on our assistance web site. Promise RAID drivers for both Windows and Linux can be downloaded from http://support.asus.com/download -> kind KCMA-D8 in the leading left model search field -> pick your OS version -> click the SATA category.Sincerely,ASUS Support Team

Very good searching board. I was able to install ESXI 4. and four.1 but the installer will not load ipmi_si_drv. Installer hangs for a long time but eventually occasions out and continues. Exact same "hang and timeout" observed on every single reboot.Lengthy POST.
