ASUS M4A785-M Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons:
- Only 1 chassis fan pin- backplate fingers can block the ethernet port
Pros: - Great chipset for the price- Great on board graphics- Intuitive layout- Solid state capacitors for CPU- ASUS gadgets - Very fast boot up especially in quick boot mode- Very overclockable Comment:
This is a great board for anyone looking for a budget AMD build. Uses DDR2 which helps to keep the price down and AMD cpu's are very competitive at the low end. The integrate graphics is nice for office computers since there is no need to spend money on a dedicated video card. Great BIOS for overclocking and tweaking. The only bad thing is that there is only one chassis fan and one cpu fan pin which is means things can get toasty if your running a quad core AMD with a separate graphics card. |

Asus quality, HDMI output, lack's overclocking
Comment:
I bought this board for my wife's computer which acts as our DVD player for our wall-mounted LCD TV. I needed HDMI output for this and was glad to see an ASUS board at this price point with that output option. So far, it has performed flawlessly albeit running basic MS Office programs and surfing the web. Paired with a quad-core AMD processor and 4GB RAM, it easily and quickly loads Windows 7 and can handle multiple open apps simultaneously with no slow down. I wish the bios had better overclocking features like my other ASUS board and the fan controls are also pared back, but this is a small issue given this computer's use. |

Robust just doesn't do it justice

I bought the ASUS M4A785-M motherboard as part of a kit. When paired with 4 GB of Corsair XMS 800 MHz memory and the AMD Phenom Quad X4 9850 2.5 Ghz CPU I can only ask myself why I waited so long to upgrade. The purchase fit nicely into my tight budget. The Express Gate which is resident on the board booting up to a reduced version of Linux is great for me. It uses Firefox which I am already familiar with. The on-board Video does the trick for me. Am not much of a gamer but it handles my Microsoft Flight-sim-X With all the graphics configured to the max in the game. I have not yet used the HDMI capabilities but soon will be. The Energy footprint of this board is astounding when compared with my older system using a multi meter. Having six SATA ports built in is great for me. All in all a great buy and I have already suggested it to a few of my friends. |

Excellent Board & Processor
Comment:
I bought the Asus M4A785-M and the Athlon II X4 620. I am extremly happy with this set up. I'm not a gamer but I like things to work quickly and this does. The first one I got was defective. The company was really good about dealing with this. They shipped a new one immediately and paid all shipping for return and new board & processor. I was really impressed with the service I got. Also the tech support at Asus was really good. |

I bought this motherboard bundled with the AMD Phenom X4 9750. Runs Windows7 x64 great even though I'm using it with only the motherboards onboard graphics. |

very good board

ASUS - what can you say. Their boards are among the best and this is no different. Highly recommend the board (I bought it as part of a barebones kit and it is really fast and easy to build). I use ASUS and MSI boards on almost all my computers and for a good reason: they work. |

Nice Motherboard
Comment:
This motherboard is very nice to work with. The one complaint I have is that it's advertised as a AM3 socket and from the literature enclosed with the motherboard it appears to actually be a AM2Plus. Still a great value for the money. Built in Audio drivers are nice and although I installed a stand alone video card the built in video was perfectly respectable for basic computing and video tasks. |

ASUS M4A785-M Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
Cons:
am3 mounting bracket in a weird directionno ddr3
Pros: compactcheap Comment:
i used this as a simple gaming pc and it works as expected. everything is fine booted up first time. It is not DOA for me. I bought the OCZ Gladiator Quad heatsink with this mobo but the fan faces upwards towards the top of the case. Its probably better blowing it to the rear of the case but not a big deal since i have exhaust at the top too. |

Onboard Graphics Dissappointing
Comment:
This is my 2nd build with onboard HDMI and have found pic quality a lot better with a video card. Overall it's a nice board for a HTPC build. Remember it's a micro ATX so, if you plan on getting a video card that takes up more than one slot, you'll only be able to use one PCI slot! |

good matx mobo
Comment:
A lot of features for a mAtx mobo. Hard to beat at this price point. The PCIe 1x slot is a bit close to the the PCIe x16 slot, but other than that I have no issues. |

Great Board for Rebuild or New Build
Comment:
Aside from the features that others have stated, the big selling features of this board are the choice of three video outputs and the overclocking. Drawbacks are that there is no 1394 port, and only one IDE channel if you are rebuilding and wish to use older devices. However, the bios is very user friendly for overclocking everything, except it could use a separate clock control for the pci-express 16 slot if you are using your own video card. You can step up the pci as a whole though. What's even nicer is the windows apps which let you benchmark your settings as well as test your stability on the fly, because you can set your clocks from windows as well as bios. Nice sturdy Board

I bought this board about a month ago and it has been running great. Follow the instructions and you will have no problems. Setup was easy and it runs great. This was to replace a gateway that died when the video chip died after only 2 years. |
