ASUS Maximus V Gene mATX LGA1155 Z77 DDR3 CrossFireX SLI 2PCI-E16 1PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:-First board was DOA-mATX so not many options for expansion-msata/wireless daughtercard is somewhat awkward

System specs:-Asus Maximus V Gene mATX motherboard-Intel 3570K with Corsair H60 cooler-8 GB G.Skill DDR3 1333 memory-Intel 180gb 330 series SSD (system, programs and games)-2 X ASUS Radeon HD 7770 V2 DirectCU in crossfire-SeaSonic G Series SSR-550RM 550W 80 Plus Gold PSU-Enermax Chakra big tower-LG DVD burnerThis system runs fast, cool, and quiet. Using an mATX motherboard in a case as large as the Chakra is great as there is plenty of room for air circulation, plenty of room to move, and plenty of room to run cabling. The first board was DOA. The LED lights would turn on, but pushing the case power switch or the on-board start button did nothing. I filed an RMA request, which was promptly approved, and sent it back to NCIX based on their instructions. They received the board roughly one week later, tested it, found it to be dead, and sent me a new one within a week, despite being very busy. All the while, I received outstanding help from Technical Support Specialist Ryuji, who really should be awarded for providing such excellent service (Thank you Ryuji!!!).In conclusion, I was disappointed that I received a dead board, especially from a company as renowned as ASUS. However, I do realize that there are lemons out there, and that I was just one of the unlucky people who got one. Since the new board seems to be working well, I am satisfied with my purchase. Overall, it is a great product.Other products considered:1) Gigabyte Sniper M3 (inconvenient layout)2) MSI Mpower (higher power consumption, too many unneeded features)

The motherboard is really nice i have my 3570k running at 44g's with 2133 ram clocked in.. tripping on the power of PCIE 3.0 x16 with a EVGA classified 680 installed.... its a big beast in a small package i cant complain about Intels new technology......however this MotherBoard is not windows 8 ready as advertised.

I will never buy a full ATX m-board again as long as Asus keeps making the ROG m-ATX series, there's just no need. This thing is a beautiful beast.

Pros:mPCIe Combo cardSupremeFX III HD Audio CODECClear CMOS Button on the I/OIntel LAN Gigabit Ethernet built-inCPU Power: 8+4 Phase PCH Power: 1 Phase Memory Power: 2 Phase ASUS EFI-BIOS is one of the best out there
Comment:
This motherboard as 100% solid aluminium japanese capacitor. Plus, it as 8+4 phase for the cpu circuit, and 2 phase for the memory circuit, which enable more stability when overclocking to very high frequency.Overclocking with this board is so easy and fun. Back in the days I used to OC with DFI board, had lots and lots of problem, but this board totally rocks. There's a red LED on the board that follows the soundcard circuit. it's nice if you've a gaming tower with a side windows. But for ma it's useless, it just makes more light in my room, so I turned it off via the EFI-BIOS.

Board is rock solid, running a raid0 config and a 3570k for a few months and no problem so far, consider updating the bios prior to OS install.

ASUS Maximus V Gene mATX LGA1155 Z77 DDR3 CrossFireX SLI 2PCI-E16 1PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:Not sure how much of a con this is, but with a big heatsink like I have going (Noctua NH-DH14), it comes very close to the first PCI-E x16 slot, so watch out, but can easily install it on the 2nd PCI-E slot, however that runs as x8, just a good to know :)

Pros:It is an amazing board, I have it paired with a 3770K and a Noctua NH-DH14, easily OC'd to 4.5ghz, also there is an easy CPU Level Up option for anyone to easily OC using this mobo
Comment:
Great mobo, very easy to overclock, plenty of features, looks great, can't go wrong with it!

Using this in a passively cooled HTPC with an i5-3550. Upgraded from the Maximus IV Gene-Z, which is extremely similar to this. Great board overall though! Tons of power saving / overclocking / customization options in the BIOS. Decent audio quality as well.

ASUS Maximus V Gene mATX LGA1155 Z77 DDR3 CrossFireX SLI 2PCI-E16 1PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:Received MVG with a broken dimm support slip.

Pros:Looks beautiful ... but ...
Comment:
Well, I finally got my MVG today, and not that it should matter, but one of the Dimm Support Retention Clips was half broken off; I know it will still be functional since its on the immovable end; I'm just not impressed that a brand new ROG product would be given the green light for retail with an obvious aesthetic problem. I searched inside the box for the piece, and found nothing; so, somebody at quality control clearly let this slip. Not impressed!Since my 3770k hasn't arrived yet, i'm going to think about it over the weekend, and decide later whether I want to RMA the board. Since I've been an avid ASUS fan for years, just might let this go. But it only opens the door for thinking of things that may go wrong before it has even posted. To note: When you have a ROG board, you want to show it off, and the first thing I saw, was the broken Dimm Support Retention Clip. It's like having one dead read pixel on your screen ... technically it's still functional, but annoys the bejesus out of you.So far, 1 star off for aesthetics ... come on guys.
