Can manage anything--operate, gaming, two children beating on it. Good display. Touch pad super-sensitive (I do a ton of writing). Have to disable & use external mouse when I'm composing text. I'd had this for six months when it was stolen. In contemplating functionality & choices for replacement, have just ordered the exact same personal computer once again.

The screen looks nice and the graphics performed properly. Sound was very good, but not loud enough. Difficult drives are slow. The battery life is terrible, barely over an hour even only internet surfing. It went up in smoke. I wish the volume could go louder. I wish Asus would have shipped a return box for the RMA rather of me possessing to pack it. I ran into issues with the battery/charger soon after a handful of months. It was reporting under one hundred% charged but would not charge up to one hundred%. It was also switching in between AC and battery mode on its personal, even with the battery removed from the laptop. I put in a ticket and was told to make sure I had the most up-to-date drivers, which I did. Following losing battery energy and plugging the charger in, it went up in a large puff of smoke. Smoke began pouring out of the exhaust fan. It is on it's way back to Asus to be repaired. For a laptop that charges this much to have battery/charger concerns so soon, and then to fry within 6 months of light use is ridiculous.

I did a fair amount of research on laptops over the past year, looking not only at what components they came with but also about brand/manufacturer reliability. Asus it appears has a great reputation on laptops in general and this a single i ordered fits appropriate into that reputation. Within days of owning the laptop I installed a good a lot of applications from Microsoft Workplace to Alternate Browsers, to USB 3. accelerators, to pc games, codec packs and much more. Anything nevertheless functions wonderful. Windows 7 is stable and the tricky drive (its 600GB broken out into 3 partitions) has been busy at perform copying files back and forth days at a time from the laptop to external drives and the net. No issues. I did purchase the NZXT notebook cooler and I usually maintain this monster mounted on the cooler. But in the handful of occasions I removed the laptop for comfort - it did not even come close to overheating. It only got warm on intense games. Gaming test coming soon... - No BluRay- No lit-up keyboard - Size is Major, this is a barely portable object (with a 18" screen and all). Whilst I can take it with me anywhere, it's not as uncomplicated as a iPad. If this point performs as nicely at it did for my information tests as it anticipate it to do for the gaming tests, this is a incredibly powerful laptop for the price. Laptops - all of them even my ancient celeron - get hot. Get a notebook cooling tray they are worth every penny!
