I haven't a clue what others below me are saying, popped in a Q6600, 2 GTS 512's and a bunch of hard drives, and it runs beautifully!!! Has a few cons, though: The Q-connectors are not as snug as they look like (but are easier to use), and there are only 2 PCIe 2.0 slots. Even so, the mobo has enough features and then some. Those other reviews have people that were too excited to get it, and just bought it. Read specs and contact Asus before you get it (I did, got a lot of info afterwards...) Firstly, there are a lot of serious BIOS updates needed to run on 45nm CPU's, then the SATA config on the mobo has to be edited (or it'll randomly load data to each HD) I tried to run Vista Ultimate and it did what others said, RESET HD CONFIG (if using more than 1 HD) Get it, seriously rocks, but know what to do beforehand... |

When I read up on this board it sounded like a dream come true - I put new Quad Core, 4gb 1066mhz Crucial Ballistix Tracer memory, 8800GTX Graphics, Dual Raptor 150gb hard drives in Raid 0, Plenty of cooling (29C) and the mother board would not even load the Bios screen, continued to freeze up and would randomly work for seconds at a time - very unstable. I spent 2 hours on phone with Tech support - concluded it was faulty board - I have not recieved my new one yet. Overall - Sounds like an amazing board if they can make it stable - but IT'S NOT. |

Very disappointed by Asus. This broad refuses to work stable. I tried installing vista Ultimate 32 bit edition and it would randomly lock up during installation and it wold respond only after few minutes. If you try to install cracked version of Vista you are screwed you will get bunch of BOSDs. I tried installing Windows Xp from 6 different discs no luck the motherboard will just shut down on itself after the screen with 39 minutes left comes up it does not even start to copy. |
The board works better after you flash the BIOS to the latest version. Occasionally BIOS settings will have to be reset if you power down and restart. Oh yeah just a heads up the on board LAN and Vista don't like playing well together. I tried drivers from the CD, Asus' website and Nvidia's website, all didn't resolve the issue. Under Windows Vista the LAN connection will not resolve an IP address under DHCP or Statically assigned IP address.
