I got this board so I could run ECC memory on my desktop system. Easy setup, good board layout. Cool and stable beneath heavy load from 3D games. Complete driver set for 64 bit Windows 7 incorporated on CD. Problems free of charge for the first week. NO overclocking capabilities in an otherwise rather full bios. The Intel and SuperMicro boards don't have any either; it would be good if someone would develop an enthusiast board with the 3420 chipset. No built in audio, but I just used my Sound Blaster Gamer card. Asus has an optional card with a Realtek chip on it. Got a wonderful price tag on this board with an X3460 combo. |

Price is correct for a entry-level 32-bit Windows Server 2008. Uncomplicated configuration and good layout. Watch out, with this board you can only use 3GB memory even you have 4GB with Server 2008. I have tested numerous settings with MMIO, PAE and DEP and nevertheless can't fix it. Server 2008 says 4GB but can only use 3, this is like 32-bit XP or Vista. C'mon, 32-bit Server 2008, not like other 32-bit client OSes, can totally use 4GB physical memory devoid of sacraficing memory address reserved for elements. I'll wait for new BIOS for attainable resolution. On-board Video has slow-redraw situation on specific software program (eg., MS Office Accounting 2009), ought to transform to the "Standard VGA Graphics Driver" in order to repair this. All round, I don't feel this board runs effectively. Not suggest for severe users. I don't endure C-state dilemma but the memory situation nearly killed me. |

An inexpensive server board. Solid with out a bunch of additional functions that 90% of us never use. Not a "Con" but the two systems I did applied the Supermicro SC-825 chassis which comes with an IDE DVD drive installed. No onboard IDE leaves them INOP considering that the case didn't come with a block off plate to eliminate them. I already install every thing by means of usb anyway so it's just my OCD kicking in. I'm back ordering my third board and saw I by no means posted a critique. These boards are strong, stable performers. Ruuning Server 2008 x64, standard company accounting software program and file sharing. low-cost, fantastic bios, excellent board arrangement and Server 2008 R2 prepared No IDE, only 6 SATA. The software for hardware monitoring sucks - utilized Speed fan and it worked fine. It was a tiny hard to set up server 2008 R2 utilizing a USB memory stick but once I properly developed the set up on the memory stick it installed in about 10 minutes. HINT: If you are setting up 2008R2 working with a memory stick, copy the MB drivers for the mass storage to a folder on the memory stick called drivers and the install will uncover them automatically. |

-Effortless to configure the BIOS-Good layout-Solid board fro the money -None so far The initially board I received was DOA so that was a bit frustrating because I am constructing this for a household members organization. Thankfully Newegg allowed me to get a refund and acquire a new board with them footing the bill for next day shipping. I will commend ASUS's server assistance team for operating with me and helping me troubleshoot the initial board. four eggs for a DOA board. |

Excellent board does exactly what it says. No system beep code list in the manual. Not a big issue but irritating none the much less. Nowhere is it listed that this board only takes 8x ram. I didn't even bear in mind this measurement existed till I saw it in the manual. Check the ram you are ordering and make sure it works with this board. I had to go to Kingston's site to locate ram that worked. This is not actually a difficulty with the board just would have been nice if Newegg would have noted it on the specs page.I did get in touch with Newegg and they accepted the returned ram with no charges. |

With the X3450 Xeon processor this board P7F-X tends to make a good combo. It fits a low finish will need to support 32 bit machines to their memory max. I had to turn off C-State in order to get multi-cores viewable in either Win 2003 or Win 2008. After disabling C-State specifcally C1 and C3 it ran really well and is in production. If I were to do 64 bit of course it tends to make a lot more sense to go with 1366 socket as you can appreciate triple DD3 for extra speed and address. |

This is a wonderful board truly my second 1. It is quite versatile with LGa1156 procs. Has almost everything in a single little package such as its own video approach not requiring clarksdale. Well the problem is the video card. No exactly where on this description does it say how substantially video memory is included. I bought this board to install in a 1u chassis to run windows media center. However the video card doesn't have enough memory megs) to suppor WMC. I wish the description would have been better and far more detaild it would have helped. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Client,Thank you for your assessment on this server motherboard. We sincerely apologize for the lack of detail on the specs with regards to the onboard video chip. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will update the "Details" page to show the the on-board graphics chip has 64MB of video memory.Sincerely,ASUS Help Team |

Has been operating a continuous uptime server for close to a year with no considerable troubles noted. Wake on lan is flaky if not totally broken. Only produced moderate attempt to get it operating. |
Seemed like a excellent deal. Asus is a nicely recognized brand. IT DIDN'T Function. It doesn't recognize Xeon 3400 processors with no updating the BIOS, even even though the description says it supports it. I don't have any spare LGA 1156 processors laying about to get it to boot so I can update almost everything. I don't know why I waste my time with Asus. They've burned me 3 occasions this year (out of 5 items purchased). Fortunately Newegg requires things back, but not without having a restocking fee.I ended up getting the SuperMicro X8SIE. Functions fine. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Client,We apologize for the challenge with this motherboard not operating with your CPU. This could be an problem with the kind of memory being employed. Please see attached chart below outlining which memory kinds work with this motherboard. If the board shipped with a BIOS revision not existing enough to perform with your CPU, please make contact with us at 812-282-2787 so we can arrange to have an updated BIOS chip shipped to you. You can discover out the BIOS revision at present installed on your board by searching for a thin white sticker with a barcode and a string of characters. The final 4 digits on the sticker represents the BIOS revision quantity.Sincerely,ASUS Help TeamAssociated File(s): Memory variety compatibility
