ASUS RT-AC66U Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Router 802.11AC 2XUSB GbE 1.3GBPS
Cons:The network printer sharing is glitchy and doesn't work with my printer. Be sure to check your printer's compatibility, even though mine is compatible it would not print. The printer would be in endless cycle of receiving data. The firmware /IS/ dated, and there is a minor security flaw with it so it would be advisable for owners to upgrade to the latest firmware immediately.

Pros:Easy to set up, strong signal, and fairly compact.
Comment:
I purchased this router back when it was on a $50 discount in October 2014. So far I enjoy using it, it does a fantastic job in with the 2.4 Ghz penetration. For those of you expecting 5 GHz across your entire house, you'll probably be disappointed. I have it in my basement, and it can reach my first floor at best, 2nd floor is not there. 5 GHz doesn't have strong penetration capabilities by the nature of its frequency. The biggest disappointment is the network printer sharing. It relies on a program that you have to download to do its job, and unfortunately it doesn't do it successfully for my printer. The printer does get detected, but it never succeeds in sending data to the printer, it'd keep my printer endlessly in receiving data mode. I let it stay like that for an entire day just to be sure. It would be nice to be able to have all the computers enjoy printing without turning on a single computer, but it is as it is. As a router, I have no complaints with its reception. Only time will tell how long this router will last though.

ASUS RT-AC66U Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Router 802.11AC 2XUSB GbE 1.3GBPS
Cons:Firmware - it shipped with a fairly dated firmware.. I update d to the latest and lost 5ghz wifi. I "downgraded" to a firmware update  from Sept 2014 and it worked fine. Back to the Oct 2014 firmware and lost 5ghz wifi again. I went back to the Sept 2014 firmware and 5ghz works.. I have submitted these results to Asus.

Pros:So far so good! I can definitely tell the processor inside is faster than in my old router.. everything is that much more responsive now (including general usage within my LAN). Great coverage. My old router couldn't reliably reach my master bedroom on the 5ghz band. This one does it with no problems despite being at the opposite end of the house.Loaded with features.Firmware upgrade brings AICloud 2! I was considering a more expensive router in order to get this.
Comment:
Overall a huge upgrade for me. I'm really happy with the purchase.I was pleased to see that a firmware update  got me AI Cloud 2. I'm already making extensive use of it.There are very few (if any) actual devices that actually work at the higher speeds of the AC1900 and especially the AC2400. Most consumer laptops, tablets, phones come with 1-2 antennas.. Those high end routers require 3 antennas to make full use of them!

ASUS RT-AC66U Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Router 802.11AC 2XUSB GbE 1.3GBPS
Cons:Had to use 3rd party firmware

Pros:Solid router, excellent coverage
Comment:
I've had this router for nearly a year. The unit worked very well until about a month ago when I loaded the latest firmware. Reloaded it more than a few times, but still had lots of bugs and it kept losing the internet. I finally got fed up and loaded DD-WRT. (Also use DD-WRT on a Netgear WNDR3700 that I run as an access point) The RT-AC66U now seems to run faster and smoother then ever. We operate a number of computers and wireless devises and have had no problems with the router when using 3rd party firmware.

ASUS RT-AC66U Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Router 802.11AC 2XUSB GbE 1.3GBPS
Cons:Errors with ps3/ps4

Pros:Sleek, Fast
Comment:
I got this router expecting the best thing since slice bread but was disappointed by the lack of some features.1) You can't edit the label of the device connected to the router so you can't easily identify the devices connected to your network2) Currently there's an issue with this router in which when a ps3 or ps4 connect to it, there will be an error that states "The router in use may not support IP fragments, and the communication features of some games may be restricted." Making their performance subpar when it comes to online content. All in all, I really wished this router to be the be all and end all of routers but it failed to live up to my expectation, I will wait and see the next lineup of routers. perhaps Wrt 1900 AC will satisfy my thirst.

I purchased this to replace an aged router having issues, and we couldn't be happier with the product. Asus has always put out quality products and I would highly advise you if you're looking for a solid router with features found in higher priced models, this is it.

Cons:Pricey, but to be expectedNo USB3 supportStand mounting isn't very well thought out

Pros:Very easy 30-second-ish setup in the WebGUICovers the entire household (3 story house incl. basement)Stable and able to maintain a connection with zero dropsSmall size Directional antennas?
Comment:
This router is pretty solid, it pretty much covers the entire household on the N-Band (Most of our devices in our house still are on 802.11n). Have yet to reset or experience dropped connections, so this is pretty much near the pinnacle of consumer routers right now. Even better with DD-WRT installed, which is what I have on it (although ASUSWRT offers similar functions with some excluded and with reduced functionality)Everything is better than any routers I've owned, particularly Netgear and D-Link, their warranty policies, length, and service is supposed to be better also. Good router, recommended. 5/5

ASUS RT-AC66U Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Router 802.11AC 2XUSB GbE 1.3GBPS
Cons:USB features are a little wonky

Pros:Easy setup, Good Signal, Easy OpenVPN setup, built-in DDNS with ASUS.com.
Comment:
I flashed this with asuswrt-merlin as soon as I got it, since my experience with consumer grade routers are usually buggy factory firmware. So far it is running great. The USB (mainly file sharing) is a little buggy, as creating folders from the GUI get stuck in "processing". I had to SSH/telnet and fix it from there. Other than that, the router runs great, no crashes so far or speed reduction. But I won't be using it much, so I don't mind.My nexus 5 gets about 200-400Mbps on wireless AC (although my suite is only 800sq.ft.). The 5ghz is a godsend, as I had the RT-N16 before and the 2.4 frequency just can't cut it in a condo setting where there are lots of 2.4ghz interference. So far no lag or stutter, but we'll see as time goes on. I will soon test by streaming HD video files directly from my NAS, as it use to struggle with this.OpenVPN was a breeze to set up with username authentication and DDNS. Didn't have to play around with easy-rsa as I did with tomato on my RT-N16 (although you can if you want).I was going to wait for the RT-N68U, but for $180, i just went with this one, as my main concern was having 5GHZ frequency more than having the best of the best.Overall quite happy so far!

Cons:failed after 4 months

Pros:Fantastic signal range & throughput
Comment:
so this one is a bit of a mixed review. I purchased this from a local store as i needed a new router urgently, i had been eyeing up this router for a long time and even purchased a wireless AC PCI-e NIC for my desktop in anticipation of getting this particular router.when i got it home and set it up i was blown away by the speeds and range that this router was able to achieve, all devices experienced a significant increase in bandwidth (our old router was only achieving 5.5mbps on my Galaxy S II in the corner of my apartment, using wireless N. when i got this bad boy up and running i was hitting between 70 and 100mbps throughput over wireless N.the only bad thing i can say about this router, isnt about the routers specs or performance when it was working "correctly". As time went by i noticed my throughput on all devices (we have 2 PC's, a games console, and 2 smartphones) drop  significantly, my wireless AC NIC on my desktop went from 702mbps, to 500mbps, then down to 292mbps and finally down to 232mbps, when it got to 232mbps i started experiencing my devices disconnect from the network intermittently - eventually getting to as bad as 5-10 times per day!I have an RMA going through with asus, and im hoping that this was just a freak incident. When it was working properly i couldn't say enough good things about it though so if you're reading this review dont let my routers failure change your mind - all manufacturers have devices that have burn-in failures!overall though - 4 stars for the product. if it was still functioning correctly i would give it 5 stars

Pros:Fast, great range, never drops signal
Comment:
Bought this for Boxing day, had it 6 months now and I don't regret for a second spending the extra on this. Replaced a DLink 655 which was dropping signal and had dead spots in my house. No dead spots, unreal range and even though I don't have a AC network capable adapter yet, immediately noticed increased speed and reliability for every device in the house. Fantastic software feature set, and my Galaxy S4 loves this router, webpages load in a snap! 9 devices on this router and you wouldn't know it!

Cons:a little more pricey than most would likely pay.

Pros:Great speed and range!

Upgraded from a Dlink 655 Dir, that had decent range but seemed to drop  out alot. This router feeds at least 6 computers, 4 smart phones, 2 xboxes, and 2 media centres usually at the same time, and so far has blown me away! It reaches from the 3rd floor of my house out to the ground level and back of my shop, At least 65 feet away through numerous walls and steel stud and door construction and shows full signal strength. Very impressed! One of my kids on the ground floor states on-line gaming working flawlessly, and he's very happy with the performance.

ASUS RT-AC66U Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Router 802.11AC 2XUSB GbE 1.3GBPS
Cons:-Interface is new, but not difficult to learn

Pros:+High-definition wireless streaming works great using XBMC to stream an ISO of a DVD to my Android phone. Also works with wireless 1080p rips streaming to PS3.+Amazing coverage and range, even in a crowded apartment with lots of interference. We share wifi with a neighbour one floor up, and Netflix works fine.+VoIP adapter worked with no setup or port forwarding required.+Updated to latest firmware immediately upon startup (though option to downgrade or use custom firmware exists, why would we?)
Comment:
Great router, worth the high cost. I don't have any 802.11ac devices to test its range with, but the G and N range are both fantastic. Significant local speed increase from WRT54G and WRT150N routers that were running DD-WRT. Haven't needed to test the USB storage since I have a media server that streams, and it works great!

Great router, very easy to setup and comes with a setup wizard that will walk you through the process of setting up your router like a toddler. Unfortunately you can't skip it if you know what you're doing. The control interface is very simple but without compromise on features. The hardware both wired and wireless has been working reliable without any issues, no tinkering or resets necessary even with a good number of different devices using it at the same.

ASUS RT-AC66U Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Router 802.11AC 2XUSB GbE 1.3GBPS
Cons:could have a better stand mount

Pros:Newest AC support
Comment:
Absolutely nothing wrong with the router so far! As to what one of the reviews say, the only reason why you would start lagging in a lan party moment would be that your internet isn't good enough. The QoS on this router is amazing, set it up so we can watch HD streamed movies flawlessly along with no lag gaming AT THE SAME TIME. Granted, it all still comes down to your internet from your ISP. Loving the dual band support, My galaxy S3 runs wifi at 5.0Ghz band speeds, and it's amazing! If you have the money to dish out, buy this router, the only difference between this router and the RT-66u is that this one supports AC, which is the latest tech.

Cons:Auto update  firmware didn't find an update , even though there was. However, downloading manually from the website and uploading to the router was a breeze.

Pros:Handles lots of clients with easeStock firmware is good, lots of optionsCan put opensource firmware on itQoS is decently configurableTransfer speeds are decent for wifi.
Comment:
Got tired of limited QoS options on old router (Belkin 750DB). With 6 people in a house and probably double that in devices connected to wifi, online gaming was a pain. This arrived, got QoS set up nicely, and now, online gaming feels like you're on your own private connection. Even with 5 people playing online games, and 1 person on netflix/youtbue, this thing is a champ, and there is next to no lag.Highly recommend this router. Plus, you can always put Tomato or DD-wrt on it.

replaced E4200v2 with this ASUS, so far it's great. Much faster network speeds, the router settings app is great and it has great parental controls..24/7 parental control on all network connected devices unlike Linksys. It took the lag and echo out of our Vonage service as well. Check ASUS website for printers compatible with the routers print sever (short list) ours was not on the list but I have it working great but not using the ASUS print server, just have the printer connected via WIFI. I was in touch with ASUS support by email and got a response the next day. No complaints, gets 4 stars on account of time I have owned it...the fifth star would come three years down the road when I am replacing it and saying...that's a great router.

Comment:
Review of FW_RT_AC66U_3004164 firmware.Bought for cottage, now receive 2 to 3 bars at dock with iPad/Xoom devices where coverage was unusable with WRT54G. (200+ feet) Not enough for Netflix on the dock however :)Unable to test AC coverage as no client hardware exists yet, but G and N devices show 10 to 15 dbm improvement vs WRT54G at same range. (Measured using inSSIDer and Android WiFi Analyzer) 5Ghz coverage lower vs 2.4 Ghz coverage as expected as obstacles were introduced, but better than expected. Device rebooted only once when device slowed down to the point web interface was laggy. Appeared as though there was 100% processor utilization. Has worked fine since reboot. Will buy another one for home. 5 stars if it hadn't required reboot/
