ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor Built-in Speakers
Cons:
None
Pros: Price, size, inputs Comment:
Bought this monitor primarily for gaming. I got it on a price match for $200 and used the express shipping, ordered it late afternoon and it showed up before lunch from Vancouver to Nanaimo. Call of Duty Black Ops looks great on this monitor with no lag. I shopped around and it looks just as good or better than more expensive models I looked at in local stores |

ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor Built-in Speakers
Cons:
No swivel base or height adjustment.
Pros: Great vibrant color, very bright, no dead pixels! Comment:
I wanted a monitor that had fast response times for my new gaming computer while still being able to provide great quality in image for mild video/photo editing. When I brought it home and plugged it in I was very impressed with the initial picture quality. Brightness was set at 90% out of the box and I had to reduce it to 50% as it was just too bright (may still have to lower it a bit). Was very pleased to see no dead/stuck pixels on the screen. Even though it's base does not offer swivel/height it does offer tilt. For those two flaws (swivel and height) I am still going to rate this monitor 5 stars as it provides a huge outstanding picture at a very reasonable price. |

ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor Built-in Speakers
Cons:
speakers... not very powerful
Pros: Good looking, great video and colors, big enough to be a TV for the kids (and myself when needed). Comment:
Great LCD monitor, superb HD colors and video. Can't detect ghosting while watching HD on it. So overall great for the video portion.I just wish the integrated speakers were a bit more powerful. I was not expecting high end speakers, but still enough to hear TV while others are playing around. |

Pros: Large screen, looks good! Comment:
I bought this screen as an upgrade from a 17" and am so happy with it. I got it on sale for 199$ and couldn't be happier. Highly recommended for a basic monitor. |

ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor Built-in Speakers
Cons:Manual is terrible. It's about 1/2" thick and over 95% of it is in a language other than English. Provides zero information as to how to access/move around the usual assortment of controls (brightness, colour, etc). It's almost as if you are expected to automatically know the differences between LCD and CRT (which is what I moved from).
Pros:Good viewing area, a very reasonable price for a 24" LCD monitor. Response time in "fast" games (in my case, a WW2 aircraft sim) was fantastic. No blur noticed at all. Comment:
This replaces my 10 yr old 17" Dell CRT. Although not as big as some LCD's out there, it presents a LOT of white space on first use. By this I mean there is a LOT of viewing space on this screen that you need to expand the browser window. And even then, most web pages will not fill the availabe space. It's GREAT!The manual is useless as far as determining how to adjust certain features (colour, gamma, etc) let alone what those values should be. It seemed very bright at first yet when I found the control, it was set at only 50%. Easy one to adjust. Others, such as gamma I had no idea what it meant or what it should look like when properly adjusted. After researching it, I did adjust it but truthfully, still don't know what I'm supposed to be looking at. Chalk this up to a noob I guess.I find that I use my video card's software to do any adjustments I think I may need. I avoid the LCD controls if at all possible due to lack of documentation as to it's use.Native res is 1920x1080 (to accomodate HD I presume--I'm sure it's mentioned in their ads). One thing to consider (which I hadn't but don't know if it would have made a difference as I have always believed that "anything can be adjusted") is: which game(s) are you going to be running? If I remember correctly, my primary game (an airplane war sim) is maxed out at 1280 x 1024 and the picture is noticeably stretched to the side (the circular reticule--gunsight--is oblong like an egg). I could "dumb down" the monitor rez but that's not why I got it. It's a little thing (games do improve) so I'm not concerned about it. I just mention it as a consideration you should consider.Am I happy with it? Generally for what I wanted, yes. I've got the colours set to max quality and they are truly wonderful (not for photo work as other monitors are said to be better suited for that) in my game and in general apps. No blurring or ghosting in fast, action filled sequences.I'm trusting right now that future games will incorporate higher res so that I can take full advantage of this unit. The only reason I give it a 3 instead of a 4 is the rez issue as described (and that is the game's fault, NOT the monitor's). I'd like to re-visit this sometime in the future and if relevant, report on it's performance. |

ASUS VW246H Glossy Black 24" 2ms(GTG) Widescreen LCD Monitor Built-in Speakers
Cons:Base has a cheap feel to it (lightweight), speakers aren't very powerful, buttons also have a cheap feel.
Pros:Nice picture, good colour & brightness, good gaming, fair price, True HD 16:9, 2ms, 20000:1 dynamic contrast Comment:
I was looking for a 24" LCD on a budget, to be used for gaming and general computing. This monitor delivered a good gaming experience and worked perfectly with Windows 7 Beta & RC2. The picture quality is good and compares with more expensive units. For a 24" widescreen LCD, it is a good value. While the base and buttons both have a cheap feel to them, they work. I wasn't looking for speakers as I prefer using a headset so speakers were a bonus. The sound quality is only ok. If the base, buttons and speakers are important to you, you may want to consider a different make.Based on picture quality alone, I rate this unit with four stars. Overall I have to give it three. I feel it was fair value for a sub $280 24" LCD monitor. Finally, the unit I received had no stuck or dead pixels that I can detect. |
This monitor is a beast.Upgraded from a 17" normal screen LG monitor it is like using a movie theater screen for gaming/movies.It has HDMIGood response time (critical point for gamers) Simple adjust buttons, which usually bother me on screens.Strong baseEffectively packed box!*Purchased for the duration of the christmas day sale, like 70$ off. Low-cost. WOO WOO I wouldn't really call it a con, but you would think buying one thing this pricey with HDMI would come with the cable included. Its about a 15$ cable, not too challenging to consist of in sale I went by way of what must have been 50 monitors looking for something with very good reviews, and good high quality as properly as having a quickly response time. This is a fantastic monitor, although you have to seriously want some thing this large. You will be sitting back in awe over all the colors!fantastic get, will probably obtain one more from Asus in the future
