Surprised at the amazing abilities of Intel's new atom processor, its very fats and fully responsive, and the powervx graphics responds so well too.I love this thing, the price was exactly what I've been waiting for, and Asus makes such great quality products, I'm loving it. So glad I waited for this tablet.Wish I could get the transleeve keyboard from NCIX too, HINT HINT! |
Overall I am very pleased with this tablet. It is not perfect but for first gen hardware running a version 1.0 OS it is very good. This is a Windows PC, just built in a tablet form factor and limited to a touch screen for input. If you stick to the Metro UI and the admittedly limited current selection of apps meets your needs it is a very nice experience, far mor epolished than the Nexus 7, at least for the pure content consumption I use it for.But having Windows on a tablet is a double edged sword. You can do all the detailed configuration stuff you would on a desktop/laptop PC and this is welcome as very few preferences are currently exposed in the Metro touch UI. The upcoming "Blue" update addresses this but for now you need hte desktop Control Panel to set up some essential stuff.Using the desktop on a touch screen is no fun. It is doable but nobody is going to like the experience.**** If you set up file sharing, to copy music, videos, etc onto the tablet, Windows will tell you some folders have already been shared and offer to update their permissions. I allowed this and all the Metro apps stopped working. It took me a week and 6 or 7 episodes like this to figure out Windows 8 allows you to issue what is essentially a suicide command. Yeah, I'm more persisitent than I am bright, and YMMV but forewarned is forearmed.
