Easy to flash to DD-WRT. It takes an added step of downgrading the original firmware, but the hardest component of that was a few googles to find the suitable old firmware to set up. Not poor. When DD-WRT was installed I had an straightforward time configuring this to be a wireless bridge for a few ethernet connected clientele. None, really. This worked wonderful suitable out of the box. I had it up and running in about an hour.

I had it for the previous 6 months and it worked constantly fine. I simply set it up and utilised it. It is truly smaller sized than it appears from the photographs. It's not the finest hunting out there, so I won't use it as element of my residence decoration for sure :) I see many damaging evaluations right here. I guess it's a hit or miss type of point, like most electronic.

Good piece of hardware. Value. DD-WRT Open Supply assistance is dead on. Got it going in 15 min. Saved myself ๠ + in proprietary Wireless LAN adapters for my Television and Blu Ray player! None so far. You will need to be somewhat tech savvy to get DD-WRT operating on this or any router for that matter, but the guidelines I located on a Google search pertaining to this model was incredibly extensive and useful. Bonus!

Rapidly. Upgraded from an old Linksys WBR-1310. Runs DD-WRT. Didn't work out of the box, but that is a lot more Comcast's fault than the router. Had to place in the old router's MAC address in order for it to acquire access to the outside globe. Very first bricked the factor whilst working with the internet interface to downgrade firmware (needs v2...8) to be capable to upgrade to DD-WRT. Whilst bricked, ended up flashing DD-WRT using the Firmware Upgrader tool on the CD. Incredibly easy. Only utilizes DD-WRT micro.

Fantastic value, DD-WRT compatible. Some what uncomplicated flash guide. When flashed, I spent 3 hours trying to configure it to me host router. Ultimately found two tutorials on Youtube that had it up and operating in much less than 5 minutes. The Asus router kept dropping signal every 5 minutes. Attempted 2 diverse host routers and it retain undertaking the similar point. Called Newegg and set me up with a replacement in not time. Thanks Neweegg! Hopefully the subsequent one particular performs...

Rapidly speed even when I'm playing games and my wife is watching videos on youtube, doesn't drop connection, excellent variety for my apt. Could not setup the pw and other settings by means of Windows 7 automatically so I had to go with the computer software that came with the router. The application installation was a breeze so it wasn't that major of a challenge. I have my desktop and my wife's laptop each networking by way of this router wirelessly and have not had a challenge soon after two weeks unlike the piece of cr*p Belkin I had that stopped working following 4 days!

Affordable, can run dd-wrt Limited internal memory, so can only run "small" limited versions of dd-wrt. OTOH, those builds have the core attributes most router customers will want. Set it up as a client bridge below dd-wrt so it repeats wireless signals. Functions fantastic and has been stable.

Price Just doesn't perform I'm reluctant to post this considering the fact that my WL-520GU performs so effectively, but what can I do. The WL-520GC I bought for a buddy just wouldn't work. It wasn't DOA. Factors would be much easier if it was. No, this router's energy and connection lights perform. It will occasionally act like it will take a configuration settings when on the rare occasion you can connect to it. But then, it all just goes away when you reboot.I had my son appear at it. Think me when I say he knows routers. His job is tech assistance at one particular of USC's online business schools. It had him scratching his head. In disgust I threw it on the shelf and forgot about it for 6 months. Now I need to have a router that operates for a family members member. I hope Asus tech help is reading this. I sent you guys a message via your help web page. I hope you get back to me due to the fact the tech help quantity listed on my Newegg invoice 502-995-0883 has been disconnected...

Like most other folks say, I loaded DD-WRT upon unboxing. I needed a wired ethernet connection exactly where one particular did not exist. I set this point up with DD-WRT as a bridge (wireless endpoint) to supply ethernet cable connection to my TIVO and Blu-Ray boxes. Streams netflix instant movies flawlessly functions with out any management. Just set the software program up and place it in its spot to do its factor. Only wish it came loaded with DD-WRT from factory! Not N capable, but for the reason that of my setup (other wireless TIVO boxes) I am forced to run in B mode only, so no biggie.

Purchased 7. Straightforward to use interface. 6 worked nicely so far. I got these mainly because of value and dd-wrt support. Which turned out to come in handy. 7th router would not connect to net. Absolutely nothing worked except for dd-wrt. If you are seeking to dd-wrt the actions are less complicated than the Linksys routers I have applied. As easy as a d-link that I flashed prior to. It is tough to uncover a router that every person offers 5 stars also. So far I have had no issues with this router.

Connections are shown at five bars on all the computer systems that I have connected therefore far. And so far, I haven't had any dropped connections. I'm very happy with this product and would suggest it to other people. Newegg service and absolutely free UPS shipping was icing on the cake.

Comes extremely encouraged by quite a few customers. Quite straightforward to restore default factory settings, which is a necessity with this router. Doesn't play properly with ISP. Constant will need to restore factory settings via switch on back. Restarting the computer calls for factory restore to get world wide web connectivity. iPod Touch would not connect to the internet, even after firmware updates. Wouldn't recognize the Wii either. A bit disappointed that this didn't function out. Hearing the ease of network setup from other folks was a major issue in purchasing, but the execution didn't function out. Seeking to sell this router and just cut my losses.

Out of the box, it works fine. Inexpensive immediately after a rebate. Soon after about a month's use, I need to have to power cycle the router at least twice per day. It looses its wired throughput and the wifi signal and requirements to be rebooted. Possibly tomato or dd-wrt would fix this but I've never ever performed that and it's a risk and takes time I don't have.

Inexpensive? Fine if you don't touch any settings whatsoever. I purchased this to replace an ailing Netgear router that continually was dropping connections, both wired and wireless. When I tried to alter the password for the administrator settings and for the wireless this router would completely disconnect from the modem and refuse to reconnect. Waiting more than ten minutes did not adjust the status. Turning it off then back on once more did absolutely nothing. Nor did leaving it off for an extended time. The only way it would "work" is by employing the uncomplicated-set up computer software and not altering any settings at all, leaving it less secure or set the way I want it to be. I like Asus, they usually have superb products but this is not 1 of them.Possibly I just have a faulty router or I missed some minor factor that made this a key headache. Regardless I cannot accept a router with this substantially difficulty. Ironic provided it's "easy to use" status, it was something but.

Straightforward to install DD-WRT I have one particular set up as an access point and one more as a repeater. Very good Range.Reputable immediately after mod. Following a month each units started to drop connections Took the covers off and identified the Broadcom chip was running rather hot to the touch, did a little investigation on the net and located some critiques with photographs of the inside showing a heatsink on the Broadcom chip, neither of my units had a heatsink. I'm not positive whats going on right here weather this is a deliberate production change or a production difficulty on one batch, in any case I fitted each units with heatsinks and they have been excellent since not a single dropped connection. It's worth checking if your obtaining troubles and don't really feel it's worth the bother to ship the unit back, if the Broadcom chip is also hot to hold the back of your finger on comfortably it's too hot. For reliability I generally like to have these parts operating as cool as feasible
