Comment:
A1 PLUS for all PC sound. Pair up with a nice set of speakers and you will be ballin'. To Lil G AKA WHINER: B.S. Is all the needs to be said. What is a Windows 98 card doing in an Alien ware case? So you spent $5000 on an Alien ware PC, but you couldn't afford an extra $200 for a sound card to be put IN the case before shipping. You are a LIAR. |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Cons:- Sometimes for some applications (or it might be the file format that they use) you can hear crackling sound
Pros:- Clear, crisp audio- Excellent audio center application (Windows 7, 64 Bit) Comment:
I could not believe what I have missed all these years. While I thought I need to upgrade my speakers first to hear the difference, it is not the case. I am still using my old and trusty Altec Lansing ACS-54 speakers and this Xonar already makes a BIG difference in audio output quality. Now imagine what if I replaced my speakers with the high quality one...Together with high quality MP3 files/audio CDs, you could feel the person is performing live in front of you. For DVD playback and games, the channel separation is excellent. Just make sure that you choose the right number of channels in the audio center application. It's total immersion.Highly Recommended, indeed! |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Cons:- No Front Audio ports but they include CD Audio & Aux?- No Jack tasking. For me it would be nice to have more than two Analog inputs but I'll live and find another way.- I don't think I like SVN, but that's more of a preference.
Pros:- Great DAC's!- Rear LED's were a really good idea, way to go ASUS- Both Optical and Coaxial for Digital Input AND Output! Good thinking ASUS!- Beautiful looks as far as the casing goes.- Much nicer sofware than I am used to seeing from ASUS. I really like the software control panel. Total Thumbs up, thank you for doing a good job! Comment:
If this had Front Audio ports I'd give it a 100%, but it doesn't. Other than that I am very happy, it sounds great! Software is nice. Rear LEDs were an excellent idea. The case looks really nice and is of a quality that makes me proud to own it.Fits nicely in my ASUS Rampage II. Top slot, just cut off three rows of fins. Would definitely buy again! From one casual user to another
Comment:
I bought this card to increase the audio quality of my music and the sounds from the few games I play. All I can say is this card does its job very well. The supplied Asus Audio Center software was easy enough for a layman like me to understand. I have an Apevia quietpack2 and I have noticed that the chassis does not give enough overhead for the card. The chassis is scrapping the top of my card! No cracks, chips, or otherwise severe damage but its enough to clench your teeth. Overall, I am very pleased with the card, its performance, and the bundled adapters, cables, software, and documentation. |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Cons:tight fit against my video card, needs an extra cable adapter to draw power(not included)
Pros:Compact/efficient packagingNice LED's on the back to assist in plugging your jacks Comment:
I saw the opportunity to upgrade from on-board sound to a sound card and decided to take it. From previous experience, I wanted to stay as far away from Creative as I could and from the reviews I read the D2X was among the best for gaming in Vista. I was impressed on the packaging for the unit and all the little goodies inside but the only downside was that the power plug for the card is not included. Luckily I had a spare but for others it might be a pain that you can't install it directly out of the box.The only other complaint I might have is that it sits a little too close to my video card and partially blocks the fan intake on it. I can't blame Asus for that since it's a fault on my XFX 680i motherboard for slot placement. People that have the extra wide GFX cards or SLI/crossfire'd may have problems with installing this because of this issue. All in all I'm more than happy with this card and would recommend it to anyone wanting to upgrade from Creative products or on-board sound This review was modfied by poster @ 05-19-09 01:08 PM |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Comment:
Don't know what this first guy's whining about but it works great for me. Installed it on a ASUS mobo and Core 2 Duo with; 1- XP 32 bit, 2- XP 64 bit and lastly Windows 7 Beta. No issues what so ever! I bought it for movie playback in DD and DTS fidelity. It's hooked up to a $10K pretty high end surround Processor and Amp. Sounds fairly good. Mind you it is after all a PC sound card. Don't expect miracles from a 250$ device. If you're using it for gaming mostly - it'll sound extremely good. I recommend. |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Cons:- Very poor drivers.- Often on a clean boot my microphone would be turned off. Only a reboot could fix it.- Certain games killed my sound in Ventrilo. Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 co-op with no sound? No thanks.- Massive sound dropping in games, especially bad the longer you play.- Entire cut scenes without any sound sometimes.- Fairly poor surround sound support.- Greatly increased random crashing in almost every game.
Pros:- Superior sound quality over Creative products.- High quality hardware.- Looks good. Comment:
I am running Vista x64, so maybe the issue the drivers are having. But I’ve been running it for over 2 years and all my other custom and standard hardware is fine. This card may be a fine choice for only watching movies or playing music, but I’m very disappointed with it for gaming. Under any kind of heavy load this card goes into, what I would call, moderate failure mode…leading to massive failure mode. The entire point of a sound card for me is to be able to handle way more load than I could with onboard sound, this card is worse than any onboard I have seen under gaming pressure. The worst thing I can say about this card is that I swapped it out in favor of my old Creative X-Fi Fatality. This is a high insult, since I have long loathed the sound quality and drivers of Creative. I instantly noticed a sound quality drop when I went back to the Creative card, but at least it is solid under load (rock steady, compared with the Asus). The search for a Creative replacement continues… |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Comment:
Yes the card is expensive but it works. Call of Duty - World at War would not work properly on my Vista OS machine with a Sound Blaster card and the latest driver. Installed this sound card and the game wouldn't even run. Went onto the Asus web page and downloaded the latest driver and now the game works great. Caution: when you download the latest driver you will need a program to open a RAR file. There is free ware available to do that. The new driver is very nice. Why they didn't include it in the original package I don't know and why they use RAR instead of zip files I don't know but definitely get the new driver. Crysis also works better with this card and new driver. Great sound and Dolby as well. |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Cons:Very expensive, doesn't really worth it. Sound issues with some games such as Far Cry 2.
Pros:Nice card. Performs well, leds on the back are a nice touch. Comment:
I own a pair of Sennheiser HD595 and I was using them with an old Sound Blaster Audigy 2. I am not an expert, but I did noticed a HUGE difference from my motherboard chip to the Sound Blaster, but I literally noticed less to none difference from my $50 card to this one. I assume the difference is much more hearable with 'normal' speakers, but with such high end headphones....it's allready the best my ears can hear, I guess. I'd suggest getting something cheaper, or give the card a try before buying it if you really notice a difference (if you may do this). |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Cons:I didn't realize until I got it but my available PCI-E slots were obstructed by the crossfire configuration.
Pros:Sound quality, ease of use, ease of installation, awfully purdy with all them lights hehe Comment:
I couldn't find anything wrong with the card. I noticed a couple of games didn't show it as supporting EAX but most do. Sound quality is way way better than the one that came with my motherboard (ASUS Maximus). I've always had issues with the quality of Creative cards and drivers. Creative = instability in my books. Asus on the other hand I've never had a problem. Very happy with the card |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Cons:PCI bracket was loose (I bought open box so maybe it was just mine), requires external power (the floppy drive power connector from the PSU)
Pros:High Quality, Awesome look. Comment:
Great quality. Not as good quality as the X-fi Fatality in my opinion. Sounds a bit different but it's not bad or anything, I just prefer the X-fi for sound quality. The Xonar is way better with driver support in Vista 64bit than the Xfi though. |

ASUS Xonar D2X Sound Card
Cons:Card requires a additional power source as PCI-E does not supply the correct voltage
Pros:Unbelievable sound qualityRealtime hardware DTS encoding for those with optical sound systemsGreat software PackageLots of cables Comment:
This sound card is simply amazing, I bought the Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium FATAL1TY PCI-E Last week (X-FI has problems in SLI systems) and the DX2 card performs Flawlessly. The X-FI does not like SLI systems but this D2X has no problems with SLI setups.I have been a Sound Blaster fan for a decade, now there is a new player in town. Thanks Asus |
Purchased this card for use in a Digital Audio Workstation. The line-in signal is weak, but a quick normalization can fix that. Due to my setup, I do not experience any latency (instrument to mixer to soundcard, mixer has own monitors). Can't comment on this card for gaming as I don't use it for that. Haven't had a bluescreen yet.
