Never Worked!
Comment:
Simple install. Did not work on my laptop though. I have spent the last 2 months with AverMedia's Technical Support HelpDesk troubleshooting this piece of hardware and now the problem has been escalated to R&D. I'm not surprised that the product is currently unavailable. Should have spent a little more $ and purchased something that would have worked. |

Good performance, but one glaring problem!
Comment:
First, it already has been noted that the device is only recognized by PowerDirector software; I tried several others, and no go. Fortunately PD is a good capture product and it's free; you'll want to buy producer software for editing. Now the news that really made me angry - when the product arrives, it says in tiny print on the box (and nowhere in any promotional literature) that the unit in incompatible with Ali and ATI host controller chipsets!!! That means it won't work with an awful lot of systems; I have 3 computers, and they all have ATI chipsets. I had to buy a PCI USB card with a VIA host chip in order to use this DVD EZMaker. That's a glaring limitation that should be explained right up front in all their promo literature; and that's why the low scores, even though it turned out to be a great capture performer once I finally got it to work. |

Not Bad
Comment:
Not bad, but I can't get it to work with any other software - which wasn't so clear at the time of purchase. They do include the software you need, which is PowerDirector, but I like to use something a little more robust nowadays. I use their software to import the video and Pinnacle to edit. |

AverMedia USB Gold Video Capture Device
Comment:
Guess I didn't look close enough at the name of the device. It's fine for video capture, but I assumed I could also use it to record turntable audio, for the connections are the same. However, the box says it isn't for use with turntables, which is half the reason I bought it. Otherwise, it's ok. |

Good low cost solution
Comment:
Installed under XP and was capturing and converting VHS tapes within 10 minutes. Good bang for the buck and the included software gets the job done. |

Not worth the time or money
Comment:
This software bundle is out of date before it arrives. There are no instructions for use and it's not intuitive. There is also no support from the site nor the manufacturer. Save your money. |

I purchased this to replace a video capture card that conflicts with my video card. The device is really nice. Setup on XP or Vista in about 10 mins. (Waiting for the software to install is the waiting time) Already converted about 3/4 of a VHS tape. I have been reviewing the captures as I do them. Quality is the same as a VCR however this is what the home movies are coming from. Great product for the cost. Doing a School project with it now for nephew. |

Works problem free, with very good results. Can get around Macrovision protection by disconnecting the video input(yellow) after the first 30 seconds of copying, then immediately reconnecting it before the gain pulse has an opportunity to loop. You needn't repurchase your Disney collection ever again. |

I had a different unit for my XP that did not work in Vista Ultimate. Avermedia DVD EZMaker worked as advertized. I followed the directions, but only installed the driver as I have Power Director by CyberLink to import and edit my movies. I am very pleased with the product. |

Comment:
I have amassed a collection of older VHS tapes over the years, I certainly wasn't about to buy DVD replacements (even if possible).... it'd cost a small fortune! Using a video capture device that would link my VCR to the computer is my only option. Having recently bought the Avermedia DVD EZMaker, it works like a charm! Easy to set up, easy to use. I'm having a blast converting ancient tapes to DVDs! Quality of copied videos is the same as would you receive from watching VHS tapes. So, don't expect miracles. One other thing I should mention, Windows Vista has a bad habit of interfering with the supplied installation discs. Just ignore all Vista warnings and follow the instructions on discs. |
Still unable to capture signals from TV and record them on the computer. There appears to be a disconnect between the two components. WHICH IS NOT ADDRESSED IN THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
