Acer Aspire AOD255-2675 Intel Atom N450 1GB 160GB 10.1IN Intel GMA3150 Win XP Home Notebook Blue
Cons:
OS must be upgraded to XP Pro, upgrade RAM to 2gig
Pros: small, lightweight, powerfull enough for net surfing, email, and running office 2007. Comment:
Bought 5 of these units for a library for in house loans to patrons. Removed all the "Garbage" from the OS and uninstalled Programs that came with the system. Upgraded OS to WinXP Pro. Upgraded RAM to 2 gigs. Running Microsoft Steady State & Norton Internet Security. No Problems so far. Except for the Boot time, which is longer now that Steady State is installed, does not have any speed issues, once booted. Will see how it does on the long term. |
I bought this netbook for my father and I was able to install all the latest softwares on it. The install setup is very long but when it's done you don't feel that this one is powered with an Atom CPU.The battery is not a 3 cell like advertised, it's a 6 cell; I was able to let this baby open (putting all the power settings so it remains 100% on) for 8 hours and the battery life was still indicating 15% remaining...For someone that is working on the road or the one in vacation or even for someone that needs a cheap computer that could be hooked up to a big LCD screen, this inexpensive netbook is just perfect!
