Acer Aspire Easystore H342 Intel Atom D510 1.66GHZ 2GB 2TB GBLAN 4 Bay Hotswap Windows Home Server
Cons:Not for the novice userDoesn't use WHS 2011 but who cares.
Pros:Easy to setupAllows me to tinker and playLots of addins for WHSDrive extender Comment:
I bought this a couple of weeks ago from NCIX on the advice of a co-worker. I have to say that I really like it so far and its' a great solution to back-up my media and have remote access to my home files from work.I ran into trouble adding one drive but a few google searches solved the problem easy. But for someone that knows little about RDP or computers in general I'm not sure I would use this solution.I had to play with port forwarding on the router as well to get remote access. A computer novice would probably shy away from wanting to do this. |

Acer Aspire Easystore H342 Intel Atom D510 1.66GHZ 2GB 2TB GBLAN 4 Bay Hotswap Windows Home Server
Cons:slow processor if you want to do someting else with it
Pros:Small, 100% reliable, 100% backup, 100% worry free Comment:
I have this Acer Aspire for the last 2 year I think. "I think" because its a worry free machine. So small and so efficient that you will forget it. Its doing its job to backup all my machine every night and serve as a file server and "film server" for my kids with the PS3.You wont be able to find a better machine to backup you PC. |
I've had this home server for 2 and a half years. The times that it does work properly is great. Backs up all my photos and such and I can back up the main HDD that's on the server. However, I've had a lot of problems where the server wouldn't start, leaving me to reinstall WHS. Then having to transfer everything on my back up HDD to the main HDD of the server. But now it's finally died on me and I'm building my own DIY WHS.
