Acer M5-481T-6448 Intel I5-3317U 6GB 500GB DVDRW 14in WiFi BT Windows 8 Notebook
Cons:not touch screen, not the thinnest for ultra books, no dedicated graphics, average screen
Pros:Fast CPU, lots of memory, back-lit keyboards, nice design, excellent battery life |
This is a nice laptop for the price. It offers a lot in a compact package, but it doesn't excel in any particular aspect.Points to consider:- I5-3317U Intel CPU delivers excellent performance and is a low watts CPU- Graphics are integrated with CPU, so this is not a gamers' laptop, but rather every day use / business.- RAM - 6GB.. more than anyone needs, especially when you are not gaming- HDD - nice hybrid drive that offers fast boot / wake up times and plenty of storage- DVD burner with support for M-DISK. One comes for free with the laptop. It is new tech that offers 1000 years life span, compared to 5-8 years for regular DVDs,- Nice back-lit keyboard.. IMO a must for any laptop. Keys are responsive and the whole keypad is solidly made- Design .. it is subjective, however this laptop offers aluminum surfaces on the top and around the keypad (bottom and around the screen are plastic). It is also on thinner side and not too heavy. If you spend more you will get thinner / lighter solutions ultrabooks, however this Acer looks really nice.- 8 hrs battery life, 6+ hrs of video playback. Enough said.- NOT A TOUCH SCREEN. ACER IS VERY SNEAKY, as if you add a P to this model number you get a touch screen.. i.e. M5-481(p)T-6448 and without it it's not a touch screen. - Screen quality is where this laptop loses a star / star and a half. It is a horrible LCD TFT screen that feels it's supposed to go onto a laptop from 10 years ago. 1366x768 resolution is fine, but quality of the screen is underwhelming. Washed out colors, not enough brightness and horrible viewing angles.
