Acomdata Samurai Ruggedized 2.5IN SATA Hard Drive Enclosure USB 3.0 with USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 Cable
Cons:
can't think of any as 2.5" enclosure it gets the job done, maybe that you need screws & a screwdriver to assemble/disassemble it. A current weakness but not a permanent one is that some of the units have shipped without any screws like mine so you'll need to request from NCIX for the screws if yours are missing.
Pros: USB 3.0 and self powered from the single usb 3.0 cable, tightly sealed rubber casing makes the enclosure very water resistant and a little durable to physical shock, should be impossible to damage from static or direct electric shock due to the rubber housing. Compact, easy to assemble & disassemble, black glossy top & bottom plastic covers, single USB 3.0 cable is universally compatible with USB 2.0 hosts, fits any 2.5" sata drive and supports SATA2/300 maybe even the new SATA3/600. I priced matched it for $30 before MIR, uses a JMicron chipset. Comes in a bright yellow cardboard box with a see through plastic cover where the enclosure is placed, includes a fairly detailed manual listing instructions for all connectivity versions of these 2.5" enclosures. |

Acomdata Samurai Ruggedized 2.5IN SATA Hard Drive Enclosure USB 3.0 with USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 Cable
Cons:
missing all screws, not really that rugged.
Pros: usb 3.0, works with usb loader gx for the wii, price for usb 3.0 when on sale. Comment:
Came over from Victoria to pick it up, got back to the place I was staying and found that there were no screws included. Went to an NCIX the next day hoping to just get some screws with just my receipt, but they told me I had to bring the whole thing in. Went back the next day and replaced. Luckily I checked the box before leaving and found that it was missing the screws as well. Ended up getting a normal USB 2.0 enclosure for $7 instead. I would buy it again possibly when there is a new batch and it's on sale. |
I've been using it off and on for the past 8 days and havn't had a problem except for the temporary supply management issue. My unit didn't come with ANY screws at all which was simply a mistake and NCIX is currently shipping the screws to me. NCIX informed me some units have been missing screws but they are correcting all issues and hopefully soon no units will ship without the required screws.I don't have any USB 3.0 ports so I havn't been able to test out its performance yet but it works fine on USB 2.0 and I'm enjoying the water resistant design. Seems to be a current going trend now (flash drives, enclosures, digicam cases), maybe rubber is more eco friendly than plastic. USB 3.0 and self powered from the single usb 3.0 cable, tightly sealed rubber casing makes the enclosure very water resistant and a little durable to physical shock, should be impossible to damage from static or direct electric shock due to the rubber housing. Compact, easy to assemble & disassemble, black glossy top & bottom plastic covers, single USB 3.0 cable is universally compatible with USB 2.0 hosts, fits any 2.5" sata drive and supports SATA2/300 maybe even the new SATA3/600. I priced matched it for $30 before MIR, uses a JMicron chipset.EDIT June 29th:Just received the screws yesterday and the strangest thing. One of the screws to keep the enclosure sealed came without any threads lol. It looks like a nail with a blunt end and screw bit head, technically a bolt lol. So I emailed NCIX about it and they're sending a 2nd set of screws. Acomdata is sure having an odd production problem. So I'm giving it 4 stars instead of my original 5. Even though the product works perfect busy people don't want to buy/receive something and have to wait an unexpected additional week or 2 to fully use the product.
