Cons:None so far.
Pros:Quiet under load Comment:
I have always used Antec PSUs and they never let me down. This PSU stays quiet even under heavy load and the temperatures are always low. |

Antec Earthwatts 650W 80PLUS Platinum 24PIN ATX12V V2.32 EPS12V 120MM Fan Power Supply
Cons:Non-modular.
Pros:High current rails, silent and highly efficient. Comment:
In spite of being "only" 650w, the current on the rails of this PSU surpass that of higher power PSUs. Consider buying it rather than the others as you will both save money and energy thanks to the Platinum rating. |

Antec Earthwatts 650W 80PLUS Platinum 24PIN ATX12V V2.32 EPS12V 120MM Fan Power Supply
Cons:Not modular
Pros:80PLUS Platinum3 year warranty Comment:
It powers my budget gaming system well. It has enough cable options. The length of cables is fine for an ATX motherboard. It is hard to see from the pictures, but the fan grid bumps out of the PSU case. It wasn't too bad with my case, the air filter is pushed down due to the height difference. (Bottom mounted PSU with air filters underneath the case.) |
For the Price, this is by far the best 80+ Gold/Platinum PSU you can buy. It's silent and uses high quality parts throughout the unit, which is unlike some of the 'budget' gold/platinum PSUs other makers like corsair (cheap sleeve bearing fan) or rosewill (older PCB design and cheaper electronics) offer. What makes this PSU particularly nice, is that it's very compact, which allows it to fit inside smaller cases, especially mITX cases, with ease. The only downside is that this "Platinum" model really only scores Gold, which isn't a huge loss, by any means, and the SATA/peripheral cable daisychain could be better thought out.For the SATA power connectors, it uses inline 90deg connectors with a sizable length of cord between connectors. This wouldn't be bad if SATA HDD spacing was actually that far apart, but they typically aren't and cause the cable to bend in a way that really ought to be avoided. As for the peripheral (4-pin) power connectors, there are far too many for a PSU being sold today and could use one chain less of it for another SATA chain.
