Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W Continuous Power "compatible with Core i7" Power Supply
Cons:Only a single 80mm fan - which means unit can run hotLess 12v power than competitors
Pros:Strong, capable PSUDecent efficiencyAn affordable entry into kilowatt powerLooks good for those with side panelsQuietGood cable lengths Comment:
This PSU is starting to get a little long in the tooth, and yet remains very competitive against newer kilowatt PSUs at a very attractive pricepoint. I have my PSU powering a folding box that has a 9800GX2, a GTX9800+, a GTS 250 and a 9600GT. All told, that's a fair amount of power draw - but should be well within spec for this PSU. And indeed, the PSU has not had any difficulty powering the rig on a 24/7 basis. At first, I was quite concerned about the unit having only a single 80mm exhaust fan, when I am now accustomed to seeing 135mm and 140mm fans on 1000+ watt PSUs. But I am pleasantly surprised to report that the unit does not seem to get unusually hot compared to my other kilowatt PSUs. The cables are nicely sleeved, although Antec did not sleeve them into the enclosure, which means there is an inch or two of the ugly bare cables showing just as they exit the rear of the unit. This is a minor annoyance. The unit, of course, is semi-modular, which means that many cables are fixed (including the ATX, both CPU and 2 of the 4 PCIe cables). For the modular connections, the PSU comes with an abundance of cables including another 2 x 6-pin PCIe cables to complement the hardwired 6+2 PCIe cables. In my case, I needed to make use of a molex-to-PCIe adapter for the 9600GT, but there aren't many kilowatt PSUs outfitted for more than four PCIe connections. In terms of cable lengths, they are all very good. I did find the 8-pin CPU connector to be an inch or two shorter than I would have liked, as I had to run it straight up to the mobo's EPS header over my video cards. If I was more concerned about looks, I would have preferred to route this cable behind the mobo tray - but the length does not permit me to do this, and as a result an 8-pin extension would have to be purchased. Other than this, all the cable lengths are more than adequate.I should also note that the PSU comes with both an 8-pin CPU cable and a separate 4-pin CPU cable (as opposed to a 4+4 solution found on many PSUs these days) - which could come in handy for certain server-grade or upper-enthusiast level platforms. In terms of performance - the unit can only power a combined 840W on the 12v rails, which is actually rather low for a kilowatt PSU - most modern ones are upwards of 900W. This is important because most of today's power-hungry components (like GPUs) pull their power from the 12v rail. So considering the optimal efficiency range is in the 50-75% area, you should keep the 840W limit on the 12v rail in mind. Last thing I will mention is noise. While installing Windows and setting up the box, the unit remained extremely quiet. This is closer to what I would describe as normal operation - and in these circumstances, that little 80mm fan was basically silent. When on full folding load, though, that little 80mm fan starts to kick up a fuss and is clearly audible over the rest of my system fans. Keep in mind - this is with the unit fully loaded, and I don't expect most people to encounter this state (and thus the associated noise) under normal circumstances. In sum, even though it's been around for a while - the Antec TPQ remains one of the better kilowatt options available. It's a little light on 12v rail and cooling compared to the competition - but then again, it is priced very attractively compared to the competition. Would definitely purchase again. |

Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W Continuous Power "compatible with Core i7" Power Supply
Cons:8pin power connector could be 2" longer, to make it under the motherboard in full towers. I've seen better sleeving.
Pros:Rock solid, stable power. Almost fully modular, only the cables you will definitely need are fixed, such as the 24pin and 8pin power connectors, etc. Nice paint job, durable, and reminds me of the old Ford GT40. Runs cool. Comment:
This thing will power anything you throw at it for the foreseeable future. Quality power, good reviews, can't really go wrong. Corsair isn't the only good brand of PSUs :) |

So far, very good PSU. No problem to power a highly overclocked quad cpu with ATI crossfire.Recommend this PSU. Look also at Corsair's 1000. |

Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W Continuous Power "compatible with Core i7" Power Supply
Cons:Not top tier PS for 1000w. Fan makes a high but quiet pitch noise. It's huge.
Pros:Nice build, 1000w, semi modular. Has a little bit of everything. Comment:
This thing runs my, 9850, 3870x2 m3a32 2 hds, 2optical drives, and 7 fans with extra watts to spare leaving me with enough headroom. I've used all the modular slots but 1 pcie. That might change in the future though. I had to remove my lower case fan in my p182 to make room and it's still tight. This review was modfied by poster @ 05-15-08 09:08 PM |

Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W Continuous Power "compatible with Core i7" Power Supply
Cons:Long, might not fit in certain cases(not a problem for me)
Pros:Partially modular. Good idea with non modular cpu and 24 pins. Very reliable, well built, looks nice Comment:
Bought this power supply after ignoring all the people who said "no need for 1000w" but it was cheap and its a great deal. Very stable and awesome features. Definatly a great powersupply in everyway. I would definatly buy again |

Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W Continuous Power "compatible with Core i7" Power Supply
Cons:the wire sleeves don't go right into the case
Pros:This is quite possibly the best power supply for the money Comment:
This PSU is deinitly the best bang for the buck you can get in a big wattage unit. I paid $169 and that is amazing whenyou look at the 500 watt units for $180 the only bad thing is the cable sleeves they don't go all the way into the unit and where they enter the thing the edges are not even protected . This is just plain stupid so i did a little mod when I got it and solved that problem right away now it is the best unit on the market |

Antec TruePower Quattro TPQ-1000 1000W Continuous Power "compatible with Core i7" Power Supply
Cons:None, or maybe the speeds Stipe ;-)
Pros:Lots of PowerSemi ModularPhysical size is decent for a 1000w PSVery Good Quality Design Comment:
This is the best power supply I brought till today! It is very well made and we see right away that this is good quality components. This power supply do less noise that my case fans, which is good for a 80mm fan power supply. Seriously I don't regret this buy, but I paid 159$ during the special :-) |
Mine "exploded" today. It shot fire out the back and I heard capacitors popping. I wasn't overloading it either. Single video card and about 5 or 6 hd's. Was watching a video while it happened. Computer was surge protected behind a UPS too.(The motherboard light stayed on until I unplugged it and I haven't checked to see if any of my other gear has been blown yet.)Not giving it a terrible rating just in case I was unlucky and received a bad one, although there are multiple reviewers on newegg complaining about this same model dying.
