BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:- regular drop outs- amateur software- can't recover from switching user
Pros:- works if you fight with it Comment:
Don't buy this, buy the Gigabyte GN-WP01GS instead. I would have if it had been in stock when I needed it. I've regretted not waiting for it to come back into stock ever since.I'm using this in a high quality component system which sits 5 feet from another system using the Gigabyte card. The other computer, which is old and made from mediocre parts, has rare drop offs, the good system with this card drop s out all the time, even at full signal strength. From time to time it does stay connected at full speed for half a day, which is why I'm not giving it a 1. The software goes blank (black square) sometimes. That includes the system tray menu. I've had it crash and Dr. Watson to Microsoft a number of times. All this after upgrading to the latest from Belkin's website (which is better than what was on the CD that came with it).Really, don't let someone even give you this card. Run away, run away... |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:- SOFTWARE/DRIVERS- Has issues with Telus DSL Siemens modem/router
Pros:- Price- Decent antenna Comment:
I was unimpressed with this card. I had major issues with a telus siemens router and WPA as well as WPA2 security. Even using a solid Linksys W series router the signal was strong however it kept dropping the connection. I'm guessing this is a driver/firmware issue. I read in another review getting chipset drivers fixed some problems for at least that user. That may be true, however who wants to have to hunt down drivers with a new card to save $12.00??.. not I at least. : )The price was good, but next time I'll spend the extra and get a more solid adapter. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:Setting up the drivers was a pain, and the utility it comes with for detecting wireless networks is unecessary.
Pros:It works fine, once you get it running. Comment:
I picked up two of these on sale for $10 each, and once I got them working they were fine. I have one on a Vista system and on on XP. The only problem was the drivers. I downloaded the latest ones, but they wouldn't install. I ended up installing the old ones from the CD, then updating to the new ones. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:None
Pros:PriceEasy to Install Comment:
I have no complaints with this card. It set up easily right out of the box and has been rock solid with Vista Ultimate for 3 weeks straight. I was also surprised with it's range as I am currently picking up a half dozen networks in my apartment complex (3 out of 6 with strong signals). Very impressed with what I paid for it. Overall: A |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:Seem to be WEP and WPA only. I couldn't get it to work with WPA2.
Pros:Good Range. Compatible with D-Link external Antennas. Comment:
I bought two of these for relatives while on sale for $18 each. They were easy to install, and they both seem to have great range. The drivers in the box were also fully up-to-date.As well, my external D-Link antennas were compatible with the connector on the card (happily the cards have the universally accepted connector and not something proprietary). For some reason the box says they support WPA2, but when I attempted to test on my home network, they would only connect if I changed my network to use WPA encryption. When on sale I would recommend this card as an alternative to the over-priced Linksys, or the sometimes flaky D-Link cards. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:No WPA2 support.Driver interface useless, use Windows one instead.
Pros:Strong wireless signal at its 2dBi antenna.Very seldom disconnected from AP.Cheap when it is onsale. Comment:
After my Trendnet PCI card died, i replaced it with this and it works a charm. Need some trick to install the drivers to bypass installing the useless own wireless software.Didn't complain working 24/7.It could be better if it supports WPA2. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:-drivers
Pros:-cheap price-good range Comment:
Good piece of hardware, works like it's supposed to.The only issue i had was on the installation, windows does not recognize the card, you need to install the driver, shut down, install the card and then you'll be able to use it, do not plug in the card before installing the drivers or else it won't work at all. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:Would like a pci-e version
Pros:Decent rangeWorks with Vista Comment:
I bought this card to reduce the number of cables behind my desk by one, and it does exactly that. General internet surfing seems to work well. Streaming video in DivX format from my media server works without glitches, too, so the speed is good. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:*Bad name I guess, but everything still works great
Pros:*Good bang for buck, if you get it for cheap price*Fast and easy software and hardware installation Comment:
I haven't tried gaming with this, but the computer can't anyways. For websurfing it's 100% suitable and I guess you pay what you get. I would recommend anyone to buy this for their websurfing purposes. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:None yet.
Pros:Most painless installation of any wireless networking product I have ever done, and I've done a few. Comment:
Bought on big sale, and was very worth it. Big name brands like Linksys and Netgear are not necessarily better just because of the name. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:Minor driver issue
Pros:It just works Comment:
Even if I installed the driver prior to installing the card ( as the manual tells you) windows would not recognise the card unless I reinstalled the driver... wierd, but it works not. I'm on WEP-64 bit for now, and it's really stable, acheiving max internet speed. I have a d-link router, can't remember the model. |

BELKIN F5D7000 PCI Wireless G Desktop Card
Cons:Poor drivers provided by Belkin (downloading the Atheros drivers fixed issues), low on extras
Pros:WPA/WPA2 support, decent signal strength, removable antenna, was very inexpensive when purchased during weekly special Comment:
First I'll get the bad out of the way. With the Belkin drivers I couldn't reliably connect to my wireless router unless the signal strength was 5 bars (excellent) in Windows. I downloaded the drivers the chipset manufacturer produced (Atheros AR5005G chipset in ver. 5100) and problem solved. *Note - Atheros doesn't have the drivers on their website so a little googling will be required.Driver issues aside, I really can't find much wrong with this card if all you're looking for is a basic Wireless G Card. I would have given this 4 stars (4.5 if it was available) but the Belkin drivers were really just that bad. |
I had mixed results with this card. I was using a Belkin router and the first card I installed kept losing the signal, even after driver updates. So I pulled the card and installed another one that I had, upgraded the drivers, it has been holding steady. I think I prefer the Gigabyte card in this price range for consistency and stability.
