BUFFALO DriveStation 1TB 3.5" External Hard Drive
Comment:
Enjoy this drive - the USB three. is significantly more quickly than USB two.. which I anticipated, but still impressed with how a lot quicker transfers are. For these unfamiliar with Buffalo they are really manufactured in Japan. We have a couple of Buffalo drives and have had no challenges with them. None |

Comment:
USB two & three compatible1 TB of space for the costLooks great The utility partition is annoying As others have noted there is a substantial-ish utility partition that's not simple (impossible?) to get rid of and use that space. There have been some fairly loud clicks coming from the drive but I'm hoping that's typical. I've been making use of to for a couple of weeks now with out challenge. |

Functions well, looks very good. Working with with StarTech 2 Port PCI Express SuperSpeed USB 3. Card Adapter Model PEXUSB3S2.Practically four instances as rapidly as my external USB 2. drive. There is a write protected utility partition黊 MB) that shows as a separate drive beneath Windows disk management. It appears this can\'t be removed. I've disabled the drive in Device Manager to at least hide it.No on/off switch. |

BUFFALO DriveStation 1TB 3.5" External Hard Drive
Cons:bulky
Pros:Fast usb 3.0 transfers, easy to setup encryption Comment:
I purchased this drive back in spring 2011 as a backup drive. The USB 3.0 transfers speeds are very good. I average 75MB transfer speeds which is a huge increase over USB 2.0 Easy to encrypt the entire drive with the pre-installed software. Only con i have is the drive is a lot larger than most external usb drives. |

BUFFALO DriveStation 1TB 3.5" External Hard Drive
Cons:- Not reliable- Corrupted most of my backed up data- Only 30 day warranty through NCIX - the rest of the 1 year through Buffalo - good luck with support
Pros:- Lots of storage for a reasonable price Comment:
I purchased this drive as a backup source for a lot of my client projects. It seemed like a good deal. Unfortunately, the drive failed within the first 2 weeks of ownership, corrupting the data. I thought it may have been something I did, so I plugged the device in a few hours later and everything seemed to work. This week, I noticed an error on my Windows OS saying a USB drive could not be recognized. It was this Buffalo drive (I have 2 other external drives attached as well and have never had problems - both not Buffalo). The drive will now not even turn on. When I plug it in, it will spin for a few seconds then turn off - no lights on the unit. NCIX warranty is 30 days, so I now have to deal with Buffalo - shipping is my responsibility to get a replacement for their sub-par product. Not satisfied whatsoever. Would never recommend a purchase of this unit. My other drives are WD and LaCie - both work well. |
colling method you cannot disable the virtual hd. When I purchased this unit a few months back, all the computer software came on a disk according to ALL the ads, only I got this "upgraded model" which I purchased as to use with my Dish DVR. Both Dish & Direct Television cannot recognize this drive mainly because of the virtual HD and the company won't enable you remove it. This drive is absolutely useless to me for the goal I bought it for.At least with a WD drive, you can disable the virtual drive. It could be constructed well, but the corporation stinks.
