Pros: Easy to setup. Runs quiet.

Really happy with this NAS. The bittorrent client works really well. I mainly interface through the transdroid app on my android phone. Works perfectly. Runs nice and quiet, I rarely hear it.

BUFFALO LS-CH1.0TL Network Storage
Cons: Fails often, looses communication with USB port, poor execution, HD formatted in Linux. Brick when power fails

Pros: Non, looks good from outside, features read well too that all
Comment:
After using this unit for few months now I must warn everyone that this product is total crap. It failed several times. I had to reflush FW several times and finally after struggling with it for days I send it out for repairs. The USB port is not working well on this unit either. It keeps dropping external drives. Hard drive is formatted in Linux too. If you lose power to this unit big chances are your unit will not recover. I suggest using UPS with this unit and configure the NAS to work with UPS. Support documentation is almost nonexistent. One has to dig through Forums to get info.

BUFFALO LS-CH1.0TL Network Storage
Cons: Archaic bittorrent client, slow web access and navigation.

Pros: Quiet, easy to set up.
Comment:
I don't know how my experiences are so vastly different from the other reviewer but I have almost the complete opposite experience. The unit sits beside the couch in my living room and the only time I hear it is when it is seeking. Setup took a couple of minutes including setting up the bittorrent client. My major complaint about this product is the how awful the bittorrent client is. I bought the Linkstation because it sounded like a great way to maintain a good ratio on private trackers. In theory it is a great way to seed torrents 24 hours a day with out leaving a computer on. In reality however, torrents loaded to the Linkstation take much longer to start and seed so poorly that I had to stop using it as a bittorrent client. It might perform acceptably if only a few torrents are loaded but that does not make it a useful tool. Even if maintaining a good ratio is not important to the user, options for manipulating and reviewing loaded is extremely limited. My torrents are now loaded back into utorrent on my PC but all data is stored on the Linkstation and I am back to seeding at an acceptable rates. Otherwise, using the Linkstation for backup purposes and sharing files across the network is working fine, and now that I have turned the bittorrent client off. it seems to be more stable (it locked up or slowed down with bittorrent running). I have had no problems streaming audio and video from the Linkstation to different computers (though I have not tried streaming video to more than one computer simultaneously). itunes also plays nicely.

BUFFALO LS-CH1.0TL Network Storage
Cons:- Start up and Shutdown times.- Irritating hard drive spin + fan hum.- Confusing initial setup for web access.

Pros:- Sufficient Storage.- Convenient internet access.- Bit torrent application was fast and easy to setup.
Comment:
I had never setup a NAS before and found the instructions for this product to be somewhat confusing and took 3 days to setup (not full days) so I was initially a bit disappointed. After getting the drive fully setup I was surprised to see how easy it was to use. The internet access was responsive and the bit torrent client was great. The only bad parts about this drive are that it does take a bit of noise and vibration, It also takes a long time to start and stop. Overall it's a neat unit and I will continually find new ways of taking advantage of it's features.

BUFFALO LS-CH1.0TL Network Storage
Cons:account/share setting changes in the web interface momentarily interrupts connection. Just one HDD bay. Auto-power only works with local clients with Buffalo software installed. Only 1 usb port. Relatively expensive.

Pros:Easy to use web interface, external access via buffalonas.com, quiet, decent transfer speed.
Comment:
This is my first NAS unit, and overall I am quite happy with it.The user/group account management is done via web interface and allows you to control which user or group has read/write access to each share folder.Transfer speeds were excellent over 100Mbps ethernet. I get about 10-11 MB/s when copying files. Can't wait to see what speed I'll get with a Gigabit adapter.Attaching an external hdd to the usb 2.0 port works quite well. A share folder will automatically be mapped to the usb drive and you can configure read/write access to it.Scheduled backup feature also comes in very handy if you want to do bulk file transfers between linkstation(s) and attached usb disks.
