Performs completely as described. This adapter is to convert some of the newer motherboards or video cards with only DVI out to accept VGA or component output. Excellent for working with my new HTPC with older TVs. None Indeed its fairly crazy that some folks on right here give themselves five star tech ratings when they don't know what an "RCA" connector is. RCA is a STYLE of connector ending. RCA says absolutely nothing about the facts carried by the cable. Honestly anyone that is rating themselves a 4 or 5 star tech should know that Component output (video only) is denoted by the connector colors: Red Green Blue. Mixed video/audio output is the colors: Yellow White Red. Audio only (stereo) is Red and White. |

To clarify what folks are writing. this is not a converter VGA and the VGA or analog pins of the different DVI ports (see wikipedia if you dont realize) are currently Red, Green and Blue out.Not all DVI ports have the analog out, the new mac miniport to DVI is an instance. verify wiki and your graphics card 1st i dont have this but but i am ordering it today. these are just straight wired adaptors. unless the wiring is shoddy (not implausible) this really should perform like a charm with some jigging of your graphics card software |

THIS IS A VIDEO SIGNAL CONVERTER ONLY!!!! It requires DVI from your pc and converts it to either VGA or COMPONENT (not composite...those old yellow plugs...or S-Video form) video to your Tv or other device. To plug it into an older (pre-HDMI) Television, you just want a component (YPbPr) cable. It's three wires on both ends that match up to the blue, red and green plugs on the adapter and your Television. That's it. Really easy. Not confusing. NOT AN AUDIO DEVICE. Audio signals are ONLY transmitted via: 1. an HDMI cable; 2. the five.1 audio connectors on your motherboard (those green, blue, black orange and grey thingies); 3. an S/PDIF cable; four. an optical audio cable; or four. red and white RCA jacks on any audio device. RCA JACKS - An RCA jack is composed of a central "prong" (+) and an outer ring (-). The style of plus is used to carry several types of signals. The sort of jack (RCA, 1Ǟ", HDMI, DVI, VGA, S/PDIF, Coax, and so on.) are irrelevant to the intended signal. Do NOT see an RCA jack and assume audio. Even so, RED and WHITE RCA jacks are virtually certainly audio. Use THIS adapter to connect the video signal ONLY from your personal computer to the Television (or other device). For audio:- Worst Signal: Green port off your motherboard to a 3.5mm ƑǞ") to RCA audio (red/white) adapter. Plug red and white wires into your audio input.- Far better Signals: S/PDIF or optical cables depending on the input capabilities of your device. Contemporary household theater systems, audio receivers and DVD/BluRay players have optical input/output. That's the best bet for surround sound.- HDMI: It's debatable whether the audio on an HDMI cable is far better than optical but that's the existing way to go. Then again, if you had HDMI, you wouldn't need this adapter, would you. |

Does exactly what I wanted. Allowed me to connect the DVI-I output from my Pc to YPbPr input to an older television. Why was there a plastic shield on the DVI connector but not on the VGA connector? |

Its a converter concerning the RCA. As you can clearly see one finish of this cable is dvi, the other is vga or RGB. RCA is audio, but one can not convert dvi to audio, so it stands to cause that somebody scre#wed up and accidentally referred to as RGB--->rca |

Lets you hook older gear up to newer Television's. Could have a bit far more adaptability IMO other than just the basic three ports+video. Just to clarify....RCA is INDEED >audio<....don't know what the other reviewer was smoking that day but this adaptor is produced to allow you to take a DVI signal and split it up into seperate audio and video streams so that an older receiver or TiVo and so on will be able to see the signals. OR you could go the other direction and take say, audio/video out from your old VCR and plug it into your newer Tv's DVI input without having the need to have to run a million cables. |
Does what it says. None Men and women give themselves a 5 tech rating and don't know what they are taking about. RCA is the sort of connector. It has nothing at all to do with what signal is getting carried. Component, composite and several other types of cables use RCA connectors. Appear it up.
