Little, cushined on a single side to let direct speak to to drive, long SATA cable, power splitter and utilizes Jmicron chip. It worked the very first time right out of the box. Set my WD 160 to Master, plugged it in, used a splitter to provide power to the HDD and the power adaptor supplied with the board and it worked. You have to don\'t forget to set the drive to Master or it will not perform. The SATA bus sees every thing as a master drive, that is why the cable only supports 1 drive. Will be running it in a 24ǝ technique, so we will see how long it lasts. None so far, could not be 2 for ป.99 ( I want 5 of these). Did not set up itself. The energy cable it comes with is ok but wants to be a dual splitter to present power to the drive and the SATA board. This little snafu was possibly overlooked by BYTECC. Lost one egg for the adaptor. |

If you will need to get an IDE device working on a board that only has SATA, this is the way to do it. Works great for challenging drives, performs OK with CD/DVD drives. Really straightforward to setup. It was an simple way to migrate all my information from old drives to one particular newly purchased SATA drive. With CD/DVD drives I had to play with the pin out to get it to work, each ASUS and Samsung DVD drives had to be altered it from CS to Master ahead of they would detect and whilst the BIOS detected CD/DVD no dilemma, Windows 7 would only mount the drive if there was a CD/DVD in the drive on boot. It has no documentation, no drivers, and can be finicky as hell. But it works as advertised and got me by until I could afford to by a new combo drive. |

It didn't disintegrate in my hands. It also *looks* technological, as if it could certainly possibly do *something*. The initially thing that you need to understand about this item, is that it sucks. This thing comes with no sort of instruction sheet, so you don't genuinely know if you're executing some thing appropriate or wrong.I read the reviews here, in particular the one about making use of the special power connector and setting the drive's jumpers to IDE Master setting. I've carried out each. I've played with the jumpers, played with the cables, and no permutation works.I'd go right after a refund if this thing weren't so cheap -- and so would a lot of other individuals also, possibly. What a nice scam. Optical drive (the drive I'm employing this adapter for) has power, and will open its tray (of program! -- the normal molex power connector is nevertheless plugged in), but is unseen by boot test and by Windows.Guess I'm finally forced to move to a SATA optical drive... |

Affordable. Operates fine. Does what it says it will do. There is a red LED light on the board to display you that it's operating. It comes with a short power converter cable and a quite brief SATA cable. The integrated SATA cable is a joke. It is only ten" extended, each ends are straight, and there are no metal clips on either finish to hold the cable in location. There are no instructions. It is simple to loosen the board's connection to the drive when attempting to set up the other cables. I bought four of these so I could transfer four 500 GB Western Digital PATA drives from my old computer to my new one. I left the drives jumpered for "Cable Pick" and they worked fine. |

Let me use my PATA DVD R/W on my Intel DG45ID board. BIOS recognized the DVD drive appropriate off the bat. Booted off the XP set up CD and installed the OS with no troubles. Not certain why the earlier reviewers had troubles. I'm guessing they did not do one (or each) of two pointsɅ) Plug in the energy to the adapter itselfortwo) Set the drive to MasterDo these two factors then this adapter works perfectly. Demands a separate energy plug for the adapter itself, but I guess that's to be expected due to the fact the SATA cable doesn't carry power. I guess if you sort in all caps it automatically suggests you can set your Tech Understanding to "High". I Greater DO THAT FROM NOW ON Given that I Believe HAVE A HIGH TECH Expertise. |

Nice affordable little board about the size of a peice of gum that connects to your IDE drive and supplies the SATA plug. The unit is powered by a standard floppy disk drive energy plug. Adapter for IDE power to floppy power included. Also a teeny tiny 8" SATA cable is included just to irk you. :) PLAY WITH THE JUMPERS Ahead of YOU GIVE UP HAHA. I tried to use this on an 80GB WD. Cable choose didn't work, nor did master, nor did slave, lastly set to MASTER WITH SLAVE PRESENT, and the thing took off like it was waiting for me all day. It kinda was ;). Total lack of documentation in the package and on the internet site. I dont blame these other guys for saying it doesn't function. So ahead of you declare DOA, examine your drive jumper selections. Happy Adapting. |
Good notion, when functioning. (I have various others, four to be precise hooked up to my new MB , from other makers that operate fine). Never seemed to perform appropriately. I had issues with a rebuild at the time immediately after a disastorous crash (MB, Graphics and CPU). As well late to send back and not worth it at this point; greater to just replace it with what I know will function. Also, when removing it from my HD, the SATA cable connector came off the board - extremeley hard to re-attach and it didn't matter anyway. Attempted to attach it to other drives, nevertheless not recognized by BIOS. DO NOT get this brand of IDE to SATA! My cheaper ones work flawlessly! Don't like to make unfavorable comments, but if it saves any person else a headache . . .New Egg, as I've stated just before, is one particular of the greatest firms I have ever dealt with. This will not hinder my future personal computer purchases! Too terrible I couldn't give No star! I'm certain their other merchandise are superior, but I will be avoiding the brand from now on.
