Cons:Frustrating installation.
Pros:Beautiful design, Quiet, very good performance Comment:
Beautiful-looking cooler that suits the design I've made for my build. Very heavy and difficult to deal when mounting onto MB (arms get shaky after awhile). I recommend you pre-apply thermal paste by spreading it -- rather than placing pea-size amount and allowing mounting to spread the paste. Temps are very good so far. I would not recommend this for extreme OC enthusiasts. But for those running at stock speeds or with gentle overclocks, definitely. |

Cons:-Installation is tough with the sabertooth z87 "Tuf Fortifier" the dark rock pro 3 backplate needs to be tucked underneath the fortifier and i am confident this will cause flex on the pcb.-Had to wait 4 monhs to get this with the dark rock pro 2 discontinued
Pros:-21 C on idle-Looks amazing on define r4 window-Quiet Comment:
Installation should have been easy but the sabertooth made it difficult. With that being, it is cool, quiet and pretty |
Great looking HSF, took a dive despite the price because I heard good things about it. I was not prepared for just how huge it was upon unboxing. The packaging is nice and the instructions are adequate , but nevertheless the install will haunt you. The first thing to do off the bat is bend the handle of the supplied wrench to a 30 degree angle, or else you'll never clear the onboard heatsinks (in my case the ones on a Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H) and the massive girth of the Dark Rock itself. After all was said and done, I realized that, short of low-profile RAM, the first two DIMMs are unusable. Then, after mounting the final fan I realized that it is no longer possible to install the super tall RAM I purchased in the final two DIMM slots. The supplied fan clips do not let you "slide" the fan up or down to gain a bit of space to squeeze in RAM, which is disappointing. I decided to concede to just running the one middle fan, which actually still works very well.If it wasn't for the minor little kinks and the price point being a little high, it'd be perfect.
