Belkin F7D4101 Play Wireless N 802.11N 300MBS Dual Band USB Adapter
Cons:Does not run dual band simultaneous (must use either 2.4 or 5 ghz), does not come with a wired USB dock for placing adapter further away from computer (like older models had), does not have a separate utility to use instead of Windows zero config utility
Pros:Works well on 2.4 Ghz, 5 Ghz is a bit hit and miss, easy set-up |
First Belkin I've tried in 5 years and I'm satisfied. Driver was easy to install using Win XP (haven't attempted with 7 yet). Doesn't drop signal and maintains a good strong signal using the 2.4 connection using Linksys WNDR-3700, the 5 ghz less so but at a 40 ft range it is still acceptable. Throughput is definitely not as fast as my wired connection to the Linksys router, or via a wireless PCI adapter, but still gets the job done for data transfer and streaming HD. Manual wasn't the most helpful, but they rarely are. Got it for sale price so I would say it's well worth.
