Beyerdynamic DT-660 - Circumaural Closed Back Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones
Cons:-Doesn't come with a 1/4"(6.3mm)-to-3.5mm plug (you can get these anywhere cheap anyways).
Pros:-Unbelievable crispness across levels and an excellent soundstage.-Straight cable (8 ft) not coiled-Soft velour muffs are comfy has hell-Nice conservative aesthetics-Good sale price |
I came from an older pair of closed (Phillips HN110's) that weren't hacking it anymore (never really were). The difference is unreal and I'm glad I finally got away from my old hp.The first day I used them I was listening to the originally recorded fanfare 20th Century Fox intro from a film from the early 1970's and literally thought something was actually wrong with the headphones since it sounded so raw and the orchestra so out of tune. It was hilarious to find out comparing it through 3 different headphones with the Beyerdynamics that it was just the orchestra itself, which I'd never noticed before (seriously, it's like you can hear the trumpet players coughing). And I'm not even using an amp with them yet, I can only imagine how much better they'd be with one.Basically, it was between the DT660's and the Sennheiser HD558's for me, I am really glad I went with the DT660's.
