This cable is working, just plug my older laser and work the first time. This product is great to connect older printer to new pc that do not have parallel port. It is working with my standard 10 feet parallel cable. I now have 6 more feet to relocate my printer. You can do a PM to get it a little cheaper.

Bought this for a co-worker. She is not totally computer savvy so I was worried that it might not work for her and I would have to spend some time trouble shooting. She plugged it in and it worked. Now I am getting another one for her daughter.

I was a little concerned about which parallel to usb adapter to buy. Apparently these can be difficult to set up. I went with this one because of all the good reviews. I had trouble in the beginning getting the correct driver installed. I have an old HP LaserJet 2100 series printer that I love and will not replace. I did not know when I bought my new HP desktop with Windows 7 (64 bit)that there is no parallel port. I followed the instructions perfectly and even had to follow the troubleshooting advice and still could not get the printer to work. The printer was recognized and showed it was ready to print but I was having a driver issue. I uninstalled the driver that the printer wizard suggested and installed a Universal Printer driver that the HP website recommended. I also did NOT set up the printer initially as an LPT1 port as the Cables To Go instructions said to do first. The second try worked! Yay!!!. I am very happy with this purchase.

Attached it to my printer and then plugged it in to my lap top, it found my printer immediately and down loaded new drivers and installed them automatically. It works great!! I am running Windows 7 home pro and my printer is a hp laser jet 1100. I am very happy with this product!

Fast delivery & cheaper than Best Buy or Staples could offer. Shipping was a little high, but still cheaper than the stores. Hooked it up to old printer and plugged it into new laptop & it worked like a charm!

I recently purchased a new computer but my printer was still an older version with a paralled port plug and the pc only has usb ports. This cable works great in converting my plug into a usb plug therefore making my printer operable. Much less expensive than a new printer!

This adapter cable is designed to go between your existing parallel printer cable's male DB-25 connector and your computer's USB port. It differs in this way from most other parallel-to-USB cable adapters that are designed to REPLACE your existing printer cable. This is an important distinction! I got this product because my new desktop workstation (sans parallel port, of course) was installed further from my LaserJet printer than my existing 10' parallel printer cable would reach.

The cable is affordable and works as advertised. If you plug it into an older USB 1.1 hub and then into the computer, you may get a message that the paper bin is empty under Linux. Therefore, plug it directly into the computer. Speed and performance appear to be the same as that from a conventional parallel cable. This is a great way to connect a new laptop to a trusty reliable old printer.

I bought 2 of these for 2 old printers that I wanted to continue to use when I switched over to a new computer that did not have LPT. They work perfectly ... well worth the price if you want to use your old printers.

I purchased the cable in order to connect my old Iomega Zip100 drive. The converter cable was recognized by my computer, but no amount of workarounds would make the Zip drive detected. Although the ad for the cable mentions Zip drives, it appears that the cable is primarily for connecting to printers. I ultimately decided to return the cable and had the Geek Squad download my old zip disks for $30.

Couldn't find a connection for our older HP DeskJet and our new computer. Local chain retailers didn't handle them, but could sell us a new printer! This site was very helpful and their quick shipping and great price made us a new customer!
