Cables To Go Cables To Go 2M CABLE GLASS TOSLINK
Cons:Connection not a solid as Monster equivalent, but that one was insane tight.
Pros:Good imaging, bass control, sound stage |
Using with an Apple TV (which replaces a Squeezebox) that only allows HDMI and optical out, and I do not have HDMI into my AVR. I prefer coax, but really no option from Apple TV or nearly every other media device, they are all optical or HDMI. I first chose a Monster product and wasn't happy. The sound stage was compressed on my system, bass was muddy, and imaging was like using cheapo RCA cables. I picked this up today, and it rivals the coax connections from Squeezebox using a nice $100 Audioquest cable, to the point I can't tell the difference. The product literature claims 280 quartz glass strands, and Audioquest has a good explanation on why this might sound better. My experience has been very good. Nice to have the imaging and sound stage back. NCIX pricing is the best out there too.
