Canon PowerShot SX130 IS Digital Camera 12.1MP 12X Optical Zoom 3.0IN LCD SDHC 2XAA
Cons: Price is always an issue

Pros: Has same look and appeal as the sx110
Comment:
I have considered buying this as an upgrade to my current canon, sx110. I really do like it point n shoot ability. Small enough to carry and powerful enough to get great shots... But is the minor bump up in mp enough to make the switch? I have to try it out in person. It is very intriguing though...

Canon PowerShot SX130 IS Digital Camera 12.1MP 12X Optical Zoom 3.0IN LCD SDHC 2XAA
Cons: -batteries don't last long, a lithium ion battery pack would last longer or as I did a good quality set of rechargeable with charger.-focus issues in auto mode, a bit slow and often slightly blurred especially when zoomed(use easy mode to solve)-video is a bit grainy looking and is limited to 10 minute recordings

Pros: -very fast power on to picture capable speed-Many different options including a manual mode setting-not a battery pack, can buy AA batteries at almost any store-powerful zoom of 12x before the lower quality digital zoom kicks in (optical zoom is always better than digital as long as the camera can focus and has a good lens)-does video with sound recorded in "mov" format-takes quality pictures that are sharp and have good contrast-pictures taken very quick at time of shutter press (fastest I have ever owned) far faster than my Lumix with a cost of $100 more-pictures can be taken very quickly after a picture was just taken provided you have a fast memory card (using class 10 SDHC)-Provides compatibility with many different memory card standards including the new SDXC with huge storage capability of 64gigs or more
Comment:
This is a fairly good overall camera especially for taking pictures for someone that wants some good zoom. The video quality is fair, however is limited to 10 minute at a time recording and had a bit of focus issues for objects that are 6 feet or closer. The included batteries do not last long at all, only managed 21 pictures and 15 minutes video before the included batteries were shown as low. Purchased some good rechargeable batteries with charger as well, spent $40 got 6 batteries camera takes only 2 at a time. Taken over 50 pictures and some video batteries are still going good as I got 2000mA (higher mA numbers should be better 2000mA was highest I found) batteries at only 1.2volts rather than 1.5 volts with no issue. Recommend a long charge holding high end battery for someone that takes several pictures. Regular non-rechargeable batteries are only expected to last around 131 pictures. The zoom is rather good, expect focus issues at full zoom on auto mode, use easy mode on the dial to solve the issue. Easy mode does not allow access to the digital zoom which runs after the optical zoom because it is to ensure good picture quality no matter what you do. Manual mode is a very nice touch for someone that knows photography. It allows you to adjust the ISO, shutter speed focus manually which allows for more object focused pictures and sharper images limited to ones camera knowledge going beyond what the camera wants to focus on; you get what you want not what the camera thinks you want). This camera is very good for the price with more features than most. It takes away that extra you are normally paying for which battery pack and charger for it to give you more features not seen on other cameras in the same price range. Being able to buy your own quality rechargeable batteries means you are not tied down to that one battery that will cost around $50 to replace or to have the extra should your battery die during taking pictures.
