Capdase Car Charger Holder Racermount 2.1 for iPhone /IPOD Touch / Mobile Phone /GAME Devices /GPS
Cons:stiff joint, cheap/hard plastic, sprint loaded release stop working properly after awhile, bulky base
Pros:reasonable price, includes 2 usb ports and 12V lighter charger |
I don't want to mount anything on my windshield or dashboard and my car only has circular air vents so most air vent mounts wouldn't fit, leaving this my only option. This unit seems like a good deal with chargers included so you don't have to buy a separate unit. The phone holder holds my Galaxy Nexus nice and tight and the side arms don't interfere with the low volume buttons. The sprint loaded quick release stopped working properly after a while so I have to force the arms open while pressing the button. I found the joint to be very stiff and squeaky when trying to twist the phone from vertical to horizontal view. The charger base includes an extra 12V lighter port that I think is unnecessary. It made the base too bulky and it was rather hard to fit it in my cigarette lighter. When I set this up in my car in it's intentional form I found the neck to be rather short. My phone located just above my knees, so I had to peek down once in awhile while driving when using my phone's GPS function. The neck also blocks access to AC controls and the radio which was annoying. I had since modified the unit and mounted the holder on my air vent with some wires and remove the neck on the base unit so I could use it as a standalone charger.
