Cavalry CABD2BR-BL Bulldog Series USB 3.0 Hard Drive Bridge + Silicone Case Protector - Blue
Comment:
Appreciate the simplicity in the package design - am amazed that it took nearly two years after USB three. began showing up in the industry for a company to come out with a basic bridge-kind adapter / 'dock'. Very high quality silicon situation w/ a solid back on it that doesn't expose the drive's PCB to whatever surface it's resting on by way of ventilation holes usually included on comparable covers - seriously content with that design aspect. Expansion power jack prepared for use (though no adapter included) in case your only USB port readily available is a low-amp rev 2. port and you require some additional juice to make your 7200rpm Scorpio Black spin up. Comes with the unique USB 3. Micro-B 'Y' cable that can only be purchased on it's own from... yep - Cavalry, amongst perhaps 1-two other generic options. 'Lego'-style stacking connectors are an fascinating selection, and the 'full blue' coloring with this certain sku makes confident you know which drive is your intended USB three. storage drive (vs bootable eSATA/OS drives). Sliiiightly disappointed in the 'dock' itself - consider I expected it to have a challenging plastic situation + a thin silicon outer shell on leading to match the drive cover feel, but it's really just a thin plastic casing. Suffice it to say it wouldn't sustain accidental weight or pressure w/out collapsing & damaging the internal bridge. Would note that the Micro-B USB port is noticeably shallow - the first time I plugged it in, kept on pushing due to the fact I expected 1 more 'click' or locking level that never ever came - and when I tried my detachable cable from a USB three. Portable GoFlex (has a visibly stubbier connector), it came up short as well, confirming that it's the port that's off. Also, I know it keeps with the theme, but Cavalry really should know blue is a 'no-no' for LEDs with the brightness/wavelength issues it causes...Weird aside - when I opened it up, my chord had a little tear in the plastic close to the widening of the Micro side's head. By no means seen that prior to in my life, but seems like a 1-timer.. However, the primary drive I planned on using this with crapped out on me just a day prior to the dock arrived, and the only other 2.5in drive I have is a super-slow SATA I 5400rpm drive, so I'm unable to set up a great test for sharing any transfer speeds at that the moment. Might come back with them when I get my hardware in order. As extended as Cavalry delivers on the rebate, then in spite of the above-mentioned surprises, the deal provided on this useful (/well-intentioned) form factor for a tier-1-speed connection, plus the two accessories it came with, produced this get a no-brainer - I would certainly acquire it once more if they did a equivalent deal in the future. Unless somebody sells you an eSATApd cable for beneath บ, you just can't beat the value for a bare-drive external connection at just three bucks and a stamp...
