Corsair CC800D-USB3KIT Obsidian 800D / 700D USB3.0 Upgrade Kit
Cons:Pass through cables for back panel connection is messyNew 800d may ship with this already installed
Pros:Adds USB 3.0 support, if you don't already have it Comment:
If you don't already have the case, wait before ordering this, you may save yourself some $$.I purchased this very recently to upgrade my Corsair 800d which was ordered on the same invoice. However, when I received the case, I noticed the front I/O already had 2 USB 3.0 connectors meaning this particular upgrade is useless for me. I checked to see how the USB 3.0 connects, hoping it would have the newer connection for USB 3.0 header on the motherboard(eg: On the ASUS P8z68v-pro) but alas, same pass through cables for connection to the back I/O. Too bad. |

Corsair CC800D-USB3KIT Obsidian 800D / 700D USB3.0 Upgrade Kit
Cons:A wee bit expensive when you consider the cost of the case originally
Pros:Same lengths as originalFixes the sound ground issue Comment:
If you own this fantastic case then you may have heard of the ground problem causing static on the sound part of the circuit for the front inputs.forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=83860This has apparently been fixed with this part:http://www.overclock.net/t/950094/800d-front-panel-efiSo it's worth it to not only upgrade your front input panel to USB 3, but also get rid of the hiss and pop on the audio circuit. I can attest to the lousy sound you get from headphones with the front panel jack and now it's been fixed. To quote Mr Burns; Excellent.Of course, with a case of this value some would argue that this should have been provided at a low cost or even for free. All I can say is; price matching might take some of the sting off.Releasing this part attests to the fact that Corsair believes their case is top-of-the-line. How many cases have USB 3 and SATA 6GB/S upgrade kits for themselves? |
My original front audio jacks were useless because of a defect from the factory. Sound was very muffled and the Mic jack didn't work at all. Just happy this replacement fixed the ground/shielding issue with the original part.
