Creative D80 Wireless Bluetooth Speakers AUX-IN
Cons:Bad bass qualityWhite Noise
Pros:Good rangeEasy of useCompact Comment:
I bought this because I am sick of listening to those small speakers on tablets and phones that I have.SetupSetting it up is a breeze as you can expect from a bluetooth device. I have paired it with all my phones and tablets in 2 mins if not shorter than that. The range is simply very good. I put it on the second floor of my house and moved my phone to the basement, backyard, etc, no problem. All this happened with 6 wifi devices in my network and 10 other APs from my neighbours competing for the same 2.4GHz space that bluetooth is using.Sound QualityThe sound quality as it is simply bad. If you look at the description of the product on the box, it promotes its ability of putting out a good bass sound. Wrong. To me, it feels more like wrong choices of the casing material and bad design combined mimics cheaply done car stereos you can spot on the road with old rusty civics, and good intervention of the marketing department of the company making sub-par product sellable. I think they need to hire sound engineers as I had totally opposite exprience with another speaker from Creative, which had very weak bass.Anyhow, the bass is just too much and hides all the mid range and treble sound. One quick fix I did was to block the hole in the back of the unit with a sheet of paper towel, which dumb down the bass to a usable level.I think if I apply some sound deadening materials inside of the casing, it will sound million times better, but that is a work for another day.Another thing that I noticed was that the speaker is very directional. If you listen to the speaker from above the unit, you will feel more base. I would recommend to put this somewhere high so that the front is at least on your ear level. This will help balance the bass against other range a little more. The last thing I want to touch a little is the white noise. Again, for this price range, you are bound to have issues like this because of the nature of the materials used to keep the price down. It is quiet noticible if you are with in 2 meters when the volume is at max. If you are very sensitive, you won't be able to sleep with leaving this thing powered on in a slient room.Overall, it was an ok purchase. I knew the issue before purchasing it by searching around and the fix wasn't terribly bad. |
